I am the kind of person who takes pride in my backyard grilling / smoking. If you have not ever used this charcoal, you have been working too hard to regulate your temperature. This stuff is awesome! It doesn't exactly light the easiest, but once you figure it out, there's no going back. I would suggest this product to anyone.

It delivers what's promised, long lasting high heat. I used it in my ceramic hibachi. For a single meal, I only used 2 pieces for 2 thick pork chops. It stayed red hot for 2 hours! I doused the embers with water ( outside the hibachi so it won't crack) and what's left of it can be reused. So much cheaper than binchotan. I used some wood chips soaked in water, wrapped in foil then puncture some holes . Lay it next to the burning embers for your desired smoky aroma.as this is smokeless. It takes a while to get it to burn but I had an AHA! moment. I placed a can of lit sterno under both bars of pokpok- than then forgot about it. In 30 minutes , it's going fairly well. No sweat !

If you want to do yakatori style cooking and have the right grill for it, this is exactly what you want. The heat is not as hot as charcoal or briquettes which you don't want but is the right temperature. It lasts quite a long time with a nice steady heat. I highly recommend using a chimney and the product itself recommends the fire starter chunks but I used about 10 Kingsford briquettes that I got going and then put this charcoal vertical in the chimney. They were blazing hot and ready to go in 15 minutes. Have different types of charcoal (6) for cooking various types of food and my 4 grills. Will definitely be adding this to my selection. Need to buy more of this ASAP. Not recommended for American style BBQ or grilling IMO.

Awesome charcoals that burn super hot for hours! It's a great substitute for binchotan charcoals and even for regular charcoals. I'll be using Thaan in my regular charcoal BBQ grill and my Konro Yakitori grill.
