They can slip out easily unless you tighten it so tight that their poor little hands suffer even more discomfort.- discomfort like..red wrist..painful red markings... Not recommend for toddlers unless your toddler fully understands you and is willing to stop sucking on their own or you be throwing 50 bucks down the drain. =.=' it's super hard w.o their cooperation .. and it smelled funny.. It just didn't work for me .

My 4 year old son wore this straight for 2 months and did not last. My son bit right through the rubber. I trimmed it little from the thumbed to remove the loose rubber but he still bit through it more I was afraid he could choke. Eventually I took them off due to it being hazardous. IT WORKS GREAT AND DOES THE JOB but if your child loves to chew on them I definitely don't recommend. He has a chewing necklace same material that I purchased couple months ago and till this day is in 1 piece. Another thing is the strips for the wrist is there a way to replace it to be sold 1 item and not have to purchase strips again when they run out. It's pricey.

If I could, I would really give this 4 1/2 stars because it really does the job (if you stick with it). However, as a number of other reviewers have noted, it can get pretty steamy in the thumb area and even when washed regularly it smells. We also experienced irritation at the point where the red closure meets- where you adjust the two flaps around the hand. I tried loosening it but then it doesn't work as intended. My daughter also had some skin irritation from the moisture in the thumb sleeve area. We used bandaids and that solved the problem.

Instructions could be better for how to stop using it, I guess it is individual. We have had great success and are just starting to only do nighttime wearings. Hopeful that will work well and we can stop it all together in a month.

We used a similar product for my older son when he was 4 as our dentist strongly encouraged us to get him to stop. He had developed quite the overbite. Our son understood the need to stop. The product worked great for him. Just before our younger son turned 3 we noticed his thumb sucking was affecting his teeth also. We used a small size of the same product our older son used. It was working for awhile until he figured out how to slide his thumb out. He has very good dexterity for his age plus he is still determined to suck his thumb. He doesn't really get the need to stop. So we decided to give this thumb guard a try. We liked the colored bands and the fact that they can be changed each day for sanitary reasons. After about 2 weeks he figured out that if he lifted the part that covers his thumb it gives just enough that he can slide his thumb out. It didn't matter how tight the band was. It is disappointing for the price we paid for the product. We used the chart and stickers that were included but he could care less. I am still giving this product 3 stars because I think it could work for an older child who understands the need to stop as my older son did. It serves as good reminder and can not easily be removed. However if your child still has a very strong desire to suck his/her thumb and doesn't quite understand the consequences yet he/she may likely figure out how to slide his/her thumb out.

Used for 30 days. My son sucked his thumb perpetually. He still sucks it at night sometimes but during the day he rarely puts it in his mouth. The first week is a little tough for them. We realized he really depended on it for soothing himself st night. but he no longer has it in his mouth constantly and is learning to settle other ways. He just turned 3 when we used it. Seemed like a good age to start. Probably should have done it closer to 2! Would definitely recommend. But ensure they use it straight for 30-40 days.
