THE BEST, and MOST INEXPENSIVE, and eco-friendly laundry soap ever!!
otter song✓ Verified PurchaseDecember 17, 2017
i mix a little borax, a little laundry soda ( about 2-3 tablespoons of each, depending on size of load) with a couple handfuls of this soap, shredded with a food grater. it is THE BEST, and MOST INEXPENSIVE, and eco-friendly laundry soap ever!! it gets out ALL THE SMELLS: goat, dog, compost, musty yuck & whatever this mini-farm can dish out. Better than 7th generation, better than disastrously dangerous tide-pell-tide sucks compared to this!-this stuff ZOTE really ROCKS!!!
Great for making Laundry Pods
Mythral✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 28, 2017
Recently started making laundry pods to use on those loads that seem to need a little extra cleaning power. We all have something like that right? Dog bed covers, stinky teenager socks, clothing in storage in need of freshening up. I use a grater on the Zote soap bar and add it into my mixture.

** 1 1/2 cups washing soda (e.g., Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda Detergent Booster)
** 1/2 cup laundry soap bar, grated (e.g., Fels-Naptha Heavy Duty Laundry Bar Soap, 5.5 oz., $1.99 at Drugstore.com)
** 2 Tbsp Epsom salt (i.e. CVS Epsom Salt, 100% Natural-Minerals, 6 lbs., $4.79 at CVS.com)
** 3 Tbsp hydrogen peroxide (i.e. CVS Hydrogen Peroxide Solution, 16 oz., $1.39 at CVS.com)
** 1/4 cup and 2 Tbsp white vinegar, separated (e.g., Heinz Distilled White Vinegar, 16 oz., $1.00 at Walmart.com)
Water
** 15-20 drops of essential oil such as lavender or jasmine for fragrance (optional)

Instructions:
Wear gloves! Washing Soda is caustic.
Place washing soda, grated laundry soap and Epsom salt in a mixing bowl.
Add hydrogen peroxide to bowl and give the ingredients a good stir.
Add 1/4 cup vinegar to bowl.
Then, if you want your homemade pods to smell nice, add 15-20 drops of essential oil. I use peppermint but I've seen reviews saying they use lavender or jasmine. Stir all the ingredients together. The mixture should resemble wet sand and should clump together when you press it.
Cover cookie sheet or flat surface with parchment paper.
Use a rounded 1 Tbsp measuring spoon to scoop the mixture out of the bowl and onto the cookie sheet. Leave a little space between each scooped out mound. This recipe should make about 28-30 pods.
Completely dry pods at room temperature for at least 8 hours before placing them into an airtight container.

One pod is good for 1 load of laundry. I have found these dissolve better when added to the washing machine tub first, before adding the clothing. If it is a particularly large load, use two pods.
ZOTE is pretty awesome to make your own laundry detergent

I'm only rating this so low for the high price sold on Amazon. Check your local Walmart before purchasing here. It's 88 cents at my local neighborhood Walmart. I wish I had checked myself before spending almost triple the price.

ZOTE is pretty awesome to make your own laundry detergent. I used ALL, TIDE, and GAIN to try and remove my sweaty workout clothes funk with no success. After watching some how to videos I made 10 gallons of this soap mixed with Borax for a fraction of the price of those detergents. Now you don't have to "coupon" to get low cost laundry detergent, make your own to clean your clothes better than supermarket/name brand laundry detergents.
Will buy again

Honestly, I ordered this simply because I missed the scent of Ivory Snow and this was supposed to smell the same. It didn't when I first opened the box, but does now after letting it sit a bit. I use it for my towels and bedding for the fresh smell I remember from my childhood!

I got these because a beauty magazine touted them as the best makeup washing soap available. I wasn't sold, but for the price? I figured I'd give it a try.
Sold.
My brushes are clean, soft, and well maintained. This does not overly dry the bristles, regardless of whether they are synthetic or natural.
The scent isn't bad, and doesn't linger. It's like a soft citrus floral... but mostly just smells classically clean.
Best of all, it gets them super clean with little effort.
