Detaches very easily, works magic with the right PLA (DOES NOT WORK WITH ALL PLAs!!!)
E. Saggese✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 25, 2018
Didn't even have to dissolve it with water, it detaches so easily from PLA (while remaining firm during printing) that it is the perfect material for printing supports. I had to raise the extruder temperature to 190 though, let's hope it doesn't degrade inside the extruder as others have mentioned.

EDIT: I have now done a few more prints with this PVA, and I have to say I am even happier than before. It is firm enough to act as support but yet detaches extremely easy once printed. And if the support structure is too ingrained with the print to be just pulled, you can easily cut it with an Xacto knife or melt it with warm water. And, oh, it melts SO easily! I put my prints in warm water and in less than 30 seconds the whole structure melts. The only issue is what to do with the dirty water, I fear that it may clog pipes if I just pour the gunk down the drain, but hey, it should dissolve in water, right? So most likely no problem.

Update: I'm on my second roll and I still think this thing is magic for supports. Since it is flexible you can peel off 99% of the support structures without breakign your print, and the rest can be dissolved in minutes with water. No issues with temperature or it absorving humidity (though at the rate I am going through these rolls it doesn't have much time to absorve moisture).

New update: tried with a different brand of PLA and now I know what others mean in their negative reviews. IT DOESN'T STICK AT ALL!!! But I am standing by my original review, as if you use it with the right PLA (PLA Pro or PLA+ in my case) this thing is magic. I recommend you buy PLA Pro and this thing if you are printing objects with complex supports.

Unfortunately the formulation appeared to change between my last order and this order. I had gone through a few weeks process working out print settings with this material for a client; and then once we finally got the settings dialed in I ordered 3 spools ; only to find that the new material chars and clogs my nozzles using the same print settings. I ended up needing to use a larger 0.6mm nozzle to get this to extrude consistently without clogging; and even then it has been emitting fumes into the workshop which gave us headaches and left a sticky residue in the workshop.
Doesnt work get something else.

Does not work. I cannot get it to adhere to the build plate, it doesn't adhere to other material I have tried Protopasta carbon fiber, PLA, ABS. Even when trying to print a temperature tower to test what is the best temperature it fails withing the first few layers, I've tried 160-190c with no success. heated build plate cold build plate nothing made any changes. Cannot recommend. One good note is all my failed supports and prints do just dissolve away in warm water.

It works. It took a day of trial and error to get print settings that were consistently working, but I got it printing on my machine at 185 degrees C, and at 100% support infill it does the job of giving you smooth bottom faces on parts. I have found it to be incredibly resistant to dissolving, however - requires an age of soaking, with regular water changes, and a lot of scrubbing. You can get it off, but you have to really want to, and you probably want to be able to reach the area, which means no weird internal channels (unless you have a pipe cleaner or something). If it were easier to dissolve, I'd be at 5/5. Hot water can speed the process up, but it can also cause PLA to deform if you're not careful, so beware.
it seems like switching materials while using this stuff as support often ...

This filament works, but it caused issues. Clogged many extruder heads if it was left in. Have to push PLA through after printing to clear the head after using this PVA. Took a lot of tweaking to get a decent surface finish on small prints, it seems like switching materials while using this stuff as support often results in bad surface finishes and bad contact with the actual print material. I think with enough experimenting it can be done but I dont know if ultra slow/high resolution would completely solve the surface issues. Can't say if its mine, the material or the manufacturer's fault but definitely takes some precautions and care to use this product. We store it in bags with solica packets.
