We have now used this battery-operated lantern a couple of times. It works very well. We really appreciate the warm glow of the light and the 3 different brightness settings. Plus, even with all six batteries in place, it is not heavy. In fact, it is well balanced and easy to carry around. Honestly, we prefer to this battery version to the propane powered one we've had for years. It's good to know we have both though.

For many years we had a similar light used in camping and emergencies until we lost our electrical power during a storm late last year. As usually happens during the night, the house was dark and confusing until we got the candles burning. But candles don't give much light (and aren't especially safe for holding and walking around the house) and the handheld personal flashlights we had were only good for showing what's directly in front of you. These lights give visibility to an entire room and their portable nature, with no hot bulbs or flames, provides safety and flexibility. We especially appreciate the three levels of light intensity.

I liked the levels of Brightness and 6-D's will back it up. I'll confidently use this lantern as Emergency Lighting for general area wherever you are. It's not a focused beam, it reminds me of my old Coleman Latern days. Nice Light!
