Please note that I like to buy inexpensive versions of the radios before investing in the more expensive ones just to know what to expect. In this case I wont be buying more versions or anything from SSL.

I received this receiver last week and I'm trying so hard to love it , I relay a lot in the Bluetooth capabilities of my devices and this receiver's Bluetooth is beyond weak . I use a a tablet with a permanent charger as a Radio without power saving so it can work at a 100%, also can put videos for my daughter and be able to browse my music easily. Also note that the tablet is less than 1/2 foot away from the radio and it disconnects several times and this is an issue that is a first time for me , I've had 3 Bluetooth radios with this one and it keeps disappointing me.
2 days ago I had to hard reset the radio(pull it out from the dashboard and disconnect it from behind and connect it again) because it wouldn't turn off when it turned the car off and guess what. happened again today.
Also when surfing through the modes (Bluetooth, FM, Aux) the radio would lag and freezes up to 1 minute.
Not worth the $20

I know this is a cheap radio, so my expectations are not high. But, it doesn't quite meet them either. I bought this to replace the radio that was missing in my old Bronco. All I wanted was a radio that could connect to my phone via Bluetooth. I bought the radio and a replacement antenna at the same time. I haven't had any problems with the Bluetooth, but, I have only had it 2 weeks. Basically, I only stream music from my phone now, since I can't listen to my favorite radio stations. I haven't tried the SD card, but you can't use the usb.
Pro:
Bluetooth connects automatically everytime. Telephone conversations work well through the radio. Sound quality is pretty decent (when streaming from my phone).
Con:
Plug in the usb and it switches to radio, and you can't change that (no charging your phone while listening to anything but FM). Plugging in an antenna is marginally better than no antenna, reception is horrible (I live in a big city and get 2 stations). You can't turn off the display. It looks cheap and feels cheaper (to be expected for $20).
Great for adding Bluetooth or fixing broken radio. Not much else

Basically, for $20 I don't think you can beat it to just put Bluetooth in the car. Do not purchase this to upgrade your system. My case was an old car with a broken knob so broken radio with no Bluetooth. Works well. If you are looking for a good radio look somewhere else. If you are looking for a good option at a cheap cost look no further.

The Good:
The metal cage fit in my 2000 protege. Unit does not wobble around.
Bluetooth works just like I expect it to. No drop outs or anything.
Easy to install. Readable instructions (lots of typos, not written by an English speaker)
Auto Favorites. Like 18 settable favorites on FM. F1P1 to F3P6

The no so great:
When turning off my car there is some weird sounds as it slowly loses power, unsure if that is my car or the radio.
Some of the functions seem rather difficult to pull off while driving, like navigating the SD card, but really I just use FM and Bluetooth
I wouldn't use it for calls when driving because there is no external microphone. but the calls I did in the driveway sounded okay.

The bad:
Sound is severely distorted at high volume levels, but I am unsure if that is the radio or the factory speakers. But in reality it beats no sound at all.
This is a GREAT product for the money

This is a GREAT product for the money. We had an old jeep which had a SSL radio, somebody stole the faceplate off of it, i went looking for an exact faceplate and couldn't find one. The SSL folks who i called told me that a new radio was my best bet. I checked the PLUG connectors and they looked like EXACTLY the ones on our old jeep radio.

THEY ARE the same. I bought the radio, it arrived and I plugged it in. ALL the speakers work AND i got the bonus upgrade of having a BLUETOOTH connection to the radio for phone calls. WOW, best jeep upgrade money i've EVER spent.

THANKS SSL, you guys ROCK for keeping the connections the same, it's MUST less work than having to RE-WIRE an entire jeep dash again.

SAVED by the SSL Engineers, thanks guys. A+++++
Replacement for my broken RV radio.

This radio was not easy to fit into the space of my old radio. I needed one that did not scratch my CD's and could play MP3 also the length had to be less then 6.5 inch. Many of the current radio's are about 7 to 8 inch because of the features they build into it and the cooling they need. After some changes of the available space I made it to fit.
It is a 1 DIN size and came with a remote. Easy to add and the manual helped connecting the wires to the existing wires. I used barrel connectors to achieve that. The sound is good and the features are sufficient. I'm a happy camper again.
