I ordered 6 of these, they came in a rather large box each individually packaged with a cardboard back and plastic wrap holding candle to cardboard. There was no bubble wrap or air pillows in box so items were tossed about and I worried about possible damage. But I saw no breakage of bulbs and i set 1 candle up and it worked fine. So hopefully the other 5 will work for me next Christmas. It worked perfectly cutting on at dusk and I liked the white bulb as opposed to yellow bulbs i have seen elsewhere. The color finish is the gold and my window hardware is gold so I was satisfied with that look.
At long last, low-maintenance, lovely candles

After nearly 3 decades of plug-in candles, I purchased 17 of these for year-round use in recitals and special events. We choose to keep them for the following reasons:
a) They have sensors--which takes away having to have individuals manage their on/off status. Also, we didn't want to be tied down to the 4- or 8-hour schedule required by candles with timers.
b) They have true white light--they are beautiful. The LED chip allows them to flicker; 17 candles flickering at different times offers a lovely, realistic look. They have a solid "on" setting w/o flicker, too, in case I ever need that.
c) Every. One. Worked. The first time.
d) The wide base and size-C batteries give these lights an excellent heft--which, combined with the optional clip, make them extremely stable, either used flat on a stage or in windowsills.
e) They offer the beauty of a candle without the fear. While I have attended many events with actual wax candles, having students around candles is insanely risky.
Did a lot of research and these don't disappoint!

I love these! A little pricey for what they are made of and all but worth it since there a lot of complaints about the cheaper ones not being bright or orange color. Worked right out of the box and were much brighter than I anticipated since they were battery operated. I also like that these didn't use the expensive D batteries that never seem to last, for me anyway, nor the AA's that probably wouldn't have enough power but the C's. Maybe that is why they are nice and bright. I live 800 feet from the road and they can be seen well. It is the soft white glow I wanted, not the blue LED nor the orange fake flame. This is however, and LED bulb so it supposedly never has to be replaced. They do not come with any suction cups so if you want them higher in your window or you don't have a ledge, you will have to buy those separate. I love that they come on automatically at dark and burn all night long and go off when the sun comes up no matter what time the sun is coming or going. The other day they even came on when it rained and got really dark. They did not seem to go off if outside lights were on and they were not affected by the lights inside the house, they still stayed on as long as it was dark outside. Only concern is the plastic bottom and battery door. I am afraid it will break at some point when I try to replace the battery, especially after being in the window and the UV rays pounding it all day, but let's not look for trouble. Only had them a week but right now I am thrilled....will be using them in the windows year round as a welcome light for my son out of country and as a memory light for my parents who recently passed together. It will be interesting to see how they hold up! Good luck everybody, be blessed.
Nearly PERFECT!

Agree completely with MANY other reviewers' observations: especially the points about the light quality (perfect) and solid build-quality (well-made). The only thing I'd add is a "Wish List" (for the next-generation of these) is that there's no TIMER option....so, they stay on ALL NIGHT LONG (until sun-up)...which in my opinion is a senseless waste of battery-power (electricity) [in my neighborhood, the only "eyes" that are seeing these things at 3:00am belong to owls and cats! I have other such seasonal devices (e.g. a lighted, battery-powered door wreath that comes on at dusk, and turns off 2- 4- or 6-hours later-- User-Selectable.). Would like to see the same option with these candles.
Happy with them!

I wasn't pumped about spending $13 per candle, so I bought a couple of those 6-packs for $15 at home depot. You get what you pay for. They were terrible. Halloween orange, and light enough to be knocked over in the event someone farted nearby.

So I sucked it up and bought these. They are MUCH better. The light is a nice, warm white, and with the batteries in, they are heavy enough to stay put on the windowsill.

I'm giving 4 stars because they are pricey and while they may just be about as bright as you can get without using a corded light (and with 2 dogs who think it's their job to protect this house from young mothers who dare to push their strollers down the street past our windows, no thanks), I wish the light was a little brighter. I did the best I could to take a picture - it's not great, but you get the idea.
