Mother is happy and surprised.

I purchased this glide balls for my 89 year young Mother and she was thrilled as purple is her favorite color. The price is right, the color nice, and the balls were easy to slide onto her walker. As she is using them everywhere, inside and out, I am sure I'll be ordering more.
installation of glide balls

Glide balls arrived well wrapped. I have been going to physical therapy so I was able to have my young strong therapist remove the flat back tips of the walker and get the balls on the walker ends for me. I have arthritis and could not squeeze the cuts in the balls open. I'm very pleased with these now that they are on the walker.
but I was disappointed. Also

The claim was that these are stronger than tennis balls. I'm not sure about that. One of our (taller!) digs snagged one off the table before I could install them. When it was found a day or so later, the ball was broken down from one end of the slit. It still fit and has stayed on the leg of the walker, but I was disappointed. Also, I think the pre-cut slit in the ball should be a 'cross' and not just a single slit. That might distribute the stress over more area of the ball, increasing the durability.
Wore out quickly

They looked great at first - a little hard to put on the legs with the slit, but I opened it up a bit and it was fine. The problem is the balls wore out much quicker than the usual Dunlop tennis balls I had been using. The directions do say not to be used outside - but that is almost impossible since I go in and out frequently. So I guess If you were in a facility with carpeted floors they would be fine. if not, use tennis balls.
Seemed heavy duty - didn't last

These balls seemed heavy duty. I was surprised. I purchased these for my dads walker who just had both knees replaced. They lasted for maybe 2 days before they had already worn through. Walking was mainly done on wood flooring, tile, and smooth pavement. If you are wanting something for a walker to assist with sliding, I wouldnt recommend these and would recommend those plastic "skis".
