Awful, Terrible No Good, Very Bad Customer Service

The chest seemed great-- until we put it together and realized the hinges were frozen. The giant notice in the box asks that we contact Fantasy Fields instead of shipping it back, and we figured since we just need new *working* hinges, they'd help us out. Nope. Awful, Terrible No Good, Very Bad Customer Service. We've emailed three times (twice directly, once from their web page) and this company refuses to respond. Do not buy this unless you want to wander around a home improvement store, trying to figure out how to rig something up. The lid is heavy AF-- so not having good hinges in place is an extreme hazard. I cannot believe this company give such garbage service on a $150 toy chest.

When this arrived, two of the corners were a little banged up, but fortunately they were in places that you couldn't see once it was all put together. In addition, two of the screws for attaching the hinges for the lid we missing (we only got 6 when there should have been 8). We were able to find similarly sized screws from our supply of spare parts so we were still able to put it together. Once it was assembled, it was very cute and it seems sturdy. Our one year old was able to figure out the opening and closing of the lid instantly and so far hasn't closed it on himself.
Poorly Designed Lid & Dangerous Hardware Make This A Disappointing Purchase

The toy chest is cute, but there is a serious flaw in the design of the box. The lid of the toy chest does not close! You have to place heavier items on the lid to get it to close and as soon as you lift those items, the lid pops right open. The hinges that open (and theoretically close) the close are also rather sharp for a children's item and since the lid does not close, my son is constantly playing with the hinges. I really wanted to love this chest and I'm super disappointed. My husband has said that it's too much hassle to bring it back down and return it, but I really wish I'd chosen a different product because for the money spent, I would have expected something higher-quality instead of this rather dangerous, poorly designed toy chest.
Hinges don't work

The hinges on this just do not work. They are too tight and result in the toy chest cover sitting open at a 45° angle permanently. You have to really force it to get it to open or close at all from there, and as soon as you let go it returns to this awkward angle. I got a replacement and it had the same problem. I asked for a third replacement set of hinges but never received it. It is very unfortunate, because the chest is adorable. It just looks ridiculous and isn't really usable. I think we are going to take off the cover entirely and just have it as an open chest. Very disappointing given the price of this item!
