Close, but no cigar.

Boots have treds that have grooves that run in multiple directions. You need to be able to scrub your boot soles fore and aft, side to side, in a twisting motion, etc in order to get the mud out of all the treds.This device restricts your foot to pretty much forward, backward scrubbing action. I'll keep it, because I need something (and this is better than nothing. But will continue my search for a scrubber that works better).
And, by the way, every other boot scrubber I have found on the market has this same fundamental shortcoming. You need to be able to freely scrub your boot sole from side to side, and diagonally.

Got this to try and keep the construction mud & sand out of the house. So far I've used it 2 days, and it isn't helping that much. Put it on a mat outside, stand on it, and wipe my feet back and forth. Works okay if I do this for 3-4 minutes NON-STOP on each foot. BUT! It gets better! The side brushes aren't high enough to clean out the welts. I still have to balance on one foot while I'm trying to brush off the other with a hand brush, so in the end I'm still doing what I was doing after I stand on this for almost 10 minutes.

So far I find this to be an excellent boot scrubber. I based my decision on one of the reviews that stated that the brushes didn't get crushed due to the placement of the wooden rods and it is true. I considered several other models that look similar in design but lacked a design to protect the brushes from being stepped on directly. As with most things the real proof is in the long term use. I'm wondering what kind of longevity I can expect from it? How long will the wooden rods hold up in a wet and warm climate? Hopefully I'll remember to check back in a year.
No more tracking dirt inside

Job site or residence - this is a great way to keep everyone from tracking dirt or snow in to the office, work site house. The low profile makes them very easy to use, but has plenty of space for debris to come off your shoes or boots. The construction has held up fine for my 200 pound frame for a few months now with no signs of letting up. The bristles of the brushes are very firm, and they stand up great to daily use. You can easily clean both shoes while standing on each side or just one at a time. The side bristles are perfect height for getting sides of sole tread without marking side of shoe or boot.

It's a decent boot scrubber but it is not as effective as a similar design sold by a well known building products chain store (sounds like 'low'), which charges just under 15 dollars. The one sold by this national chain has 5 sets of wider brushes for the bottom of your boots as opposed to the four sets of narrower brushes on this one. The chain version also provides full coverage from front to back while this one has no coverage at the front and back where there are exposed dowels which you can see in the single photo the company provides. My wife complained that her foot slips on the dowel at the front of this scrubber. I bought this version because the chain store was out of stock. If I had not had the opportunity to frequently use the chain store's which is located at the entrance of a condo building in which I periodically live, I might have given this 4 stars. Finally, I can attest to the durability of the chain store's while I have only owned this one for two weeks.
