Plenty of power and battery capacity for my 1/4 acre lot. Very pleased with it.

I was a bit skeptical of buying a cordless trimmer. We have a 1/4 acre lot with nearly 400 ft of fencing, 3-400ft of flower bed edging, and 200ft of driveway/sidewalk. I was sure that I'd have to edge part, mow while the battery charged, and then finish up. I can honestly say that I very much underestimated the battery capacity.
Most weeks I can do all the edging/trimming and still have power left to spare. The only time I've had to charge was the first "spring trimming" when I had to renew the 3" gap between the grass and the flower bed borders. Even then, I finished 80% of the yard before needing a charge and my 2-stroke trimmer couldn't do it on a single tank of fuel either.
The power is at least on par with my 2-stroke (28cc) craftsman trimmer, but I can tip/roll this trimmer anyway I want and not worry about fuel leaking or exhaust burning. The vibration is also far less fatiguing despite being heavier overall. With the motor at one end and the battery at the other, I find that the balance is superior to my tradition gas trimmer as well.
There are only two things I don't care for and I'm slowly getting used to both. First, it takes longer than my gas trimmer to spin up when i mash the throttle. Honestly this is maybe a 1 second delay from a stop. If you consider that I don't have to start it or warm it up... it's a wash over all. Second, sometimes at low throttle it will just cut off. I think the resolution at the low end of the trigger pull and the speed controller don't play well. As long as I keep it's minimum speed high enough this isn't an issue, I just have to adapt and get used to hitting that point.
The reviews about throwing stuff everywhere and you need to wear coveralls, face mask, kevlar armor, blah, blah are silly. This unit isn't any more prone to throwing stuff than any other trimmer. Just think about the direction of the rotation and the line of fire. Don't cut with the right side or it throws stuff at you.... Don't throw stuff at a fence two feet away or it will come back at you... don't cut with the left side if you have a plate glass window dead ahead. It ain't rocket science folks.
I like this thing so much I'm considering the EGO blower for my dad, who is do for a new one, and possibly the lawn mower for me. I just need to do more research to figure out the right size battery for my lot so I don't overspend on unnecessary range.

Balance is perfect. Usage is effortless

Whew! Finally a string trimmer that works perfectly every time. No line tangles and terrors. Refills line spool effortlessly. Line lasts much longer than most. Cuts through truly thick weed stalks. Battery charges in a matter of mere minutes and gives at least 45 minutes of use before quickly being recharged for more work. Balance is perfect. Usage is effortless. Trims as well as edges. I've gone through probably ten different brands and kinds of weed trimmers in the last many years and finallllllly have found the one that works. Great product!
Great trimmer. EGO did a really good job on this one.

I got this trimmer because I had some three foot tall grass and weeds. This thing is really awesome. I tried a different trimmer and it would tangle up with weeds every 10 minutes. This one just destroys weeds like nothing. The 2.5 Ah battery is great to keep the weight down and it lasts long enough to get a lot done. Variable speed lets you save a lot of power. You can adjust the handle to balance the battery on the end with the head on the other end. The motor is on the head so there is no vibration like units that have a shaft running from one end to the other.
What I really like is putting on my 7.5 Ah battery I use with my mower and run it full power for hours. I went through 100 ft of line in a day because I am hard on the string but the trimmer never fails to feed line until it's all gone. You can load about 17 feet of line on the spool. I bought two extra spools and now I can have them loaded and ready to go.
I had grass piled up on top of the weeds from cutting the tall grass with my tractor and I just powered right through it all with this trimmer.
I am very impressed.

So good it makes me sad for all the wasted years spent trying others

I bought this, the leaf blower, and the hedge trimmer. I now loathe the years of struggle with other electric cord, battery, and gas powered units. These units are powerful, safe (safety triggers with slight start delay for accidental trigger pulls), well-designed, and effective. Importantly, the battery lasts a LONG time and charges quickly. (e.g. If you have a regular size yard, you need buy only one unit with the battery and charger....You can change it out very easily. If you have a large yard or tasks, you could buy a spare battery and the other will be charged by the time the in-use one dies). The charger/battery also have built-in battery protection (including overcharge, so you can leave it in the charger); We'll see how many hours-worth of use I can get from one. If you're comparing prices, watch out for those that sell NONE of the units with the battery and charger and then charge a small fortune for them separately.
Perfect for Residential Applications

I struggled with a gas string trimmer for years, but finally decided I am too lazy to deal with the constant need to tune the carb and making sure you don't get any water accumulated in the gas tank due to the high ethanol content of pump gas. Enter the EGO lithium string trimmer. This has plenty of juice to tackle a normal sized residential yard, even when flipping on end to be used at an edger and I really like the variable speed control on the throttle. I tried a different 60V model from a different manufacturer without the speed control and you can definitely tell the difference when trying to trim around flower beds and fence posts. The string is thicker on this model as well (.080 I think) so it doesn't break as easily.
My typical use case is about 30 mins solid of trimming, and I end up with the battery indicator still showing green. Can tell you how long the battery will last under "normal" use and I have never gotten close to running it down. I even purposely didn't charge it after my last mow, and it still showed green after trimming this week.
All in all, good trimmer for a decent price. As long as it hold up for a few years (it has a decent warranty as well), I am happy.
