Update: wore low cut socks with this ankle brace on for my first day back at work. After a couple hours, my skin got so irritated and sooo Itchy!! Thus.....word of advice, make sure to wear longer socks with this! ðŸ'‚

I had an open ankle dislocation and tore my ligaments; I had to be in a splint for 2 weeks, cast for 6 weeks (non-weight bearing), now I'm in a walking boot (12 days so far), trying to walk again. I have 5 days left before I return to work, but my work doesn't allow for me to wear a walking boot. Bought this and tried it out; my foot doesn't fit in my vans with the brace on, but I feel that it provides a lot of stability to my ankle, almost as much stability as my boot. I have to stand for 8-12 hours in a day for work...So i'm hoping this will help get me through the day! I'm size 6.5 women's, regular width, 11.5" ankle circumference, bought a size small, but I feel like there's excess material? Idk if that's how it's supposed to be, but it works. Not sure if a size XS would fit better though.
Great for distance runners!!!!

I don't typically leave reviews but when I find a product that exceeds expectations and may provide information that may help others make a decision then I will...

I recently rolled my ankle on a long training run, it was very swollen and had a large amount of bruising within 2 hours, I did have X-rays done as I was concerned my racing season was over before it had started, luckily for me there were no fractures.. I immediately began searching for some type of stabilizing brace and found the ASO brace, it arrived 4 days after my initial injury.

Since I had no pain bearing weight on my foot and also no pain when flexing my ankle front to back, only had pain flexing my ankle outwards, I decided to give it a try. I wear a men's size 9 and ordered a medium which fit very well, my initial concern was a loss of flexibility and irritation that may have caused blistering or chaffing, fortunately I had neither, it was worn over a sock and I do wear calf guards so there was no part of the brace touching the skin...my original plan was just an easy run to see how it felt and if I was feeling pain, I'm happy to say after 60 minutes and 8.5 miles I had no pain and no irritaition on any part of my foot! There was one point where I felt like my ankle was beginning to roll outwards but I believe the brace did its job and prevented that from happening.

Overall, I do feel this does help with stability not only for runners but for anyone with instability issues, the fit and feel are very good, I am guessing that on future runs I will not even notice it's there....I hope this helps!!!
Worked Great in curing my Tendonitis

I had very painful Tendonitis 5 years ago and was prescribed an identical ankle brace along with a cortisone injection and 10 days of prednisone. We left for a vacation in Italy the following day. I wore the brace every day for the next two weeks and walked over 100 miles without any problem. The meds and this brace saved our vacation.

I developed Tendonitis in the other ankle last week but couldn't find my brace and ordered a replacement from Amazon. It was way cheaper than the $85 the doctor charged me 5 years ago for an identical one. After wearing it for a few days and taking NSAIDs, I was able to walk without pain. It is very lightweight, well made and easy to use once you figure out how to put it one. The instructions that come with it are clear and easy to follow but it may have helped that I was already quite familiar with wearing it.

This ASO worked perfectly for me. I highly recommend it
The brace Rocks, Holds Rock Solid!

This is a great ankle brace. I sprained my ankle in late June and the doctor provided a compression brace that was not doing the trick. I spoke with my physical therapist and he recommended this ASO Ankle Stabilizer. What a difference. The ASO Ankle Stabilizer made my ankle rock solid. It comfortable and fit inside all of my shoes. This made it perfect to ware in the yard, hiking, or at work in front of a customer.

The ASO Ankle Stabilizer ties like a boot as you slip it on over your foot. Then it comes with two straps that go under your foot and come back up on either side. A large Velcro strap locks it all together across the front of your shin. The fabric is a thin nylon but it is completely non-stretch and locks your ankle in.

You can position your foot (bend your foot up or down) to fine tune where you foot is held. My physical therapist had me put on the brace and while I had my foot on the floor lean forward then tighten the straps. This gave my foot a more natural position for walking.

A couple things to note: While putting the side straps around the bottom of your foot, make sure they are positioned well back over our heel. When I first used this brace the I put the straps over the arch of my foot. This lead to circulation issues and my foot began to hurt. Place the straps closer to your heel and you will be fine.
Secondly, when lacing up the brace I tended to over tighten the laces. This was unnecessary because the support comes from the straps. Don't tighten the laces too much.
Recommend for Ankle Fracture Recovery

After my cast was removed, from a surgical repair for a triple ankle fracture, with dislocation, I used the ASO ankle stabilizer instead of the walking boot. This stabilizer is the same one offered at my Orthopedic surgeon's offer, at a fraction of their price.
This brace is comfortable, easy to adjust and it washes well, I would recommend the ASO stabilizer for ankle injury recovery.
