These Things Are Amazing

I had a 25 pound of rice that turned out to be a breeding ground for these moths I had never even heard of pantry moths before this. I threw that bag of rice out and then the moths found the bird seed. I am a person who will put a bug outside instead of kill it if I can. But there is no catching these and it does not take them long at all to multiply into problem numbers. I was really skeptical about this product at first but it works great. Between the six of these in the package they have attracted, trapped and killed 100-150 moths since I set them up this afternoon, More moths than I thought I had. In comparison at the same time I bought three bug zappers that you plug into an outlet like a glade plug-in. Between the three zappers they have killed 2 moths in the same time period. There is no comparison. I had also hung three regular streams of sticky fly paper and over several days I got 10-15 moths. It is the Pheromones in this product that is so great--the moths flock to the traps. I guess just the males are attracted to this so I need to go after the remaining females on the ceiling with spray.
caught the first moths within 15 minutes!

I somehow got birdseed moths in my cockatiel food storage container. I am careful about bringing new food into the house -- I always freeze it for a week or two before opening -- but wherever the moths came from, it pretty quickly became an infestation. I was finding them floating dead in water dishes, crawling all over the cage bottoms, etc. They were starting to leave the room where I keep my birds and get into other parts of the house. So I had to do something. I'd previously tried another brand of moth trap, and it was good, but what I liked here was getting a 6-pack.
These are individually sealed in foil envelopes so they will last until you open the envelopes. You don't have to use them all at once, in other words. The moth pheromone is mixed in with the adhesive rather than being in a little tablet, which is also something I like. (The little tablets from other brands are in a package together and once you open it, the pheromones start getting released. There is no saving one trap for another time.) I did not find the paper backing on the adhesive too difficult to remove. It stuck a little in one place but it honestly wasn't bad.
Once you remove the paper adhesive, you just fold into a little triangle (see the official product image) and you are good to go. I have two of these open and operating right now in my bird room (which is just a medium-sized bedroom). I have them on opposite sides of the room and they are both attracting moths. I got the first couple of moths within 15 minutes and more bodies are accumulating (I'm at about 10 right now and it hasn't even been 24 hours). What's great about the pheromone being in with the adhesive is that the moths aren't attracted to one particular spot, but can stick anywhere. (With the previous brand I tried, there were definitely more carcasses around the little tablet. They are more spread out with this brand.)
As with any moth trap, I'm glad here that it is using pheromones instead of synthetic chemicals (don't want to irritate my birds' delicate respiratory systems). Also because of this, it is safe to throw away and send to the landfill, and these are paperboard so they're biodegradable.
For good moth control, I find freezing bird seed when you bring it home, keeping it in airtight containers after freezing, and good vacuuming and paper-changing (at the bottom of the cage) habits are helpful in addition to these traps. I also throw out my vacuum cleaner bag after each use (I buy them in bulk here on Amazon). Please note, these traps only catch the males, so you will still see females for awhile, but if you can keep them from breeding, the population will decrease over time. I intend to keep putting out traps indefinitely because that is way better than cyclic moth infestations.
Anyway, these traps are effective and easy to use and I definitely recommend them if you have a birdseed moth problem.

I enjoyed checking the traps each day for the twitching tan corpses of the evil moths in my pantry and kitchen. Everytime I saw the light slowly fading from their tiny black moth eyes, my chest swelled in pride and enjoyment. Those moths ate my cereal, bread, pasta and oats. They ruined so many meals. My pantry was infested when I brought home an expired bag of cat food from the gas station that was crawling with larvae. I didn't check the bag until my cat minions/demons started vomitting. Sure enough, there were moths flying inside and what appeared to be larvae. That explains the tan moths that had been plaguing my home for weeks! So I franticaly ordered these traps and waited 2 days to dole out the death penalty to these monsters. I laid the traps on several shelves in the pantry, on the counter, on a table, and in a window sill. A few of the moths were caught that day, but things were moving slowly. My partner is an avid cleaner, and he moved one of the traps out of the way while he wiped counters. I saw the trap on top of the fridge, and before I could curse him for sabotaging my killing efforts, I saw all the corpses writhing in sticky purgatory! This apparently was the best kill room for the pantry moths. Long story short, I strongly recommend you put one or two of these on top of the fridge! This is where they seem to go and hide, even if you don't have any food up there, they clumsily float up there while you're in the kitchen, and then they stumble upon the trap out of curiosity. Good Luck!
This product works very well, but requires patience before you see results!

Great product! We had a huge pantry moth problem in our house that went on for over a year, and after trying this product we're finally moth free! It's been almost two months since I've encountered a moth, and running across them used to be a daily occurrence. The trap starts attracting moths right away (you might even seen them flying toward you as you go to lay it down), but since this trap only attracts males it takes a few weeks before you start seeing a dramatic reduction in moths. By killing the male moths, this trap stops the reproductive cycle of the moths and thus it takes an entire life cycle of these pests (about 4 weeks!) to eradicate them. During that time, I recommend setting out 1-2 traps in every room you've spotted moths flying and changing out the traps as frequently as necessary. These traps are supposedly good for 3 months, but if you have as bad of an infestation as I did, your trap will likely fill up well before that time. I think I switched mine out twice during the first week, and then twice more before I stopped seeing the moths all together.
I would definitely repurchase this product again if I ever had need of it, but I'm hoping I never do!

Yeah, so ...these work.

Day 1: Emptied pantry. Threw away anything that may have been contaminated. Sprayed every surface, filled tub with hot soapy water to wash all of the reusable containers.
Day 2 (morning): The moths are upset about the massacre of the night before. They have moved to the kitchen and are flying at me like kamikaze pilots. The hat huddles herself into a corner; she is overwhelmed with the state of the kitchen.
Day 2 (evening): THE MOTH TRAPS HAVE ARRIVED!!! Since the mass exodus of the pantry I think it's best to put at least one out in the kitchen. The other is in the pantry for those brave enough to return to the original battlefield.
Day 3 (morning): The traps WORKED. A few lonely moths were clinging to the kitchen ceiling staring at the bodies of their brothers who were stupid enough to fly into the traps. Some escaped into the hallway. I still have 4 more traps but these 2 may take care of things.
It is now the afternoon of day 3, I believe my moth-fighting days are over. The traps will continue the fight for me. Thank you Dr. Killigan for helping me reclaim my pantry and kitchen.
