The suture pads were great
Bonehead•June 10, 2017
The suture pads were great for surgical practice. I used them to make a video for school and to practice stitching on. The cuts are long enough to give you and idea of what really goes on or what will go on during surgery. The pad also has the 3 layers, helping to give an idea of how deep to pull or how far to go through the skin with a needle.

I was referred to this particular suture pad by many of my PA classmates who seemed to like it. I personally find that the superficial layer very flimsy. Every time i evert the "skin" to take a bite, it cracks down the middle, and when I am lucky enough to make a stitch, it usually rips up the skin as I'm tying. Not sure if this is because I'm using a real suture (4-0 monocryl), or if it's the actual product. The size is convenient, but I need a product that is a little stronger and will not rip on me.

I purchased this for my NP and PA students to practice suturing and it works like a charm to let them use real suture and needles. It's not tough like real skin and the needle punctures easy but it's excellent for learning purposes and knot tying. We'll see how it holds up over many uses!
