I've had the lights in a mason jar outside for 2 years now and it still works perfect! I've never taken the light in through all 4 (extreme) seasons in the north east and it's held up wonderfully and is bright every night. Couldn't have asked for a better product!
This lid is black

I figured since the picture has a galvanized lid in the package that's what I would get, but this lid is black and not at all authentic looking if you want to put it on an antique mason jar. That said, it does work well. I just wish they would have been more specific about what the color is.
ETA: one other thing - if you leave it out in the rain, it will let some water get in the jar. Then you have to be sure to open it up so it can dry out:(.

I am making these up for Christmas gifts for all of my friends. I bought both the clear and colored lights. They work great. I bought 5 sets for myself and put them in quart size mason jars have them placed in my garden on small shepherd hooks I found at amazon. They look beautiful and have had no problems with any of them. They've been outdoors for 2 months through wind and rain and still work great!
Love this idea

I can't say how many of these I have purchased. Started with one for me and I was so impressed that I have purchased several as gifts. Everyone is happy with them. Nice warm glow emits from whatever size mason jar you would prefer.
Reminds me of fireflies in a jar! You may need to replace the battery, though.

The Angel Tears Solar Light Mason Jar Lids are GREAT! They remind me of a jar of fireflies!!! (which I don't see as I live in the city). They brightly illuminate from the start of the sunset and they last ALL NIGHT and turn off at when it is bright from the sunrise. I have not seen a reduction of brightness as it gets closer to sunrise (and I get up at 5am when it is still dark). It is not an overpowering light, but perfect for walkways and patios. We purchased 12 of these for our 30 foot walkway and they work well. The mason jar itself is not included, but the jars can be found in many stores including WalMart. We bought clear jars (though there were colored ones available). These solar lid fits a 2.5 inch (regular mouth) opening. I should note that 1 out of the 12 batteries that came with the lids was weak. It lasted only a few days. When we switched out the battery, the lid worked without issues. We intended to replace all of the rechargeable batteries with a name brand anyway, so I did not find this to be a deterrent in purchasing the product. ...Keep that in mind if you noticed a reduction or failure of the product. It may be that the battery needs replacing and then the lid light will work again. I intend to buy more of these for our backyard pergola.
