Finally something to keep my 5-Liter beer keg cold
Dennis M.•May 2, 2016
This beer cooler is almost perfect. First, what I like about it... It fits a 5-Liter keg of beer perfectly (maybe too perfectly). I love the Velcro sealed door at the bottom-side that is used to pull out the gravity tap on the 5-Liter kegs. It works perfectly. The cooler is well-constructed - the strap actually goes down into the cooler and across the bottom of the cooler to provide strong support for the weight of the keg. I'm sure that will prevent the soft-side cooler from tearing due to the weight of the keg. Now what I don't like about it... The biggest issue for me related to Heineken 5-Liter kegs. Heineken kegs don't use the gravity tap approach; they have the tap on top of the keg and there is a plastic frame about an inch high around the top of the keg protecting the tap system. This cooler is designed to perfectly fit a 5-Liter keg but it is not tall enough to handle the plastic frame on top of the Heineken keg. I am able to zip the top about half-way closed with the Heineken keg in it. I'm not sure how it will affect the ability of the cooler to keep the keg cold. That brings up the other point - the cooler fits the keg like a glove. Consequently, there is no room to wrap a freeze pack around the keg to keep it cold for extended periods of time. So far, I've only used the cooler to keep a keg cold for about 3 hours. It does a good job for that duration. I'm not sure it will keep the keg cold for an entire day, especially if the temperature is 80-plus degrees. Understanding these limitations, it does a great job and, if these things don't bother you, I'd recommend you give it a try.
love it.

love it....wish I had this a few years earlier....we had to cut up a small trash can to put out keglet in and cover it with bags filled with ice.
