Pretty much cardboard. If you are looking for something to sit on or send your kids to camp and want it to last pay the money for something better. This one was sent straight back.

I ordered this trunk to go in my living room. I have a lot of photo albums and thought it would be fun to have them handy to look @ and use the trunk as a coffee table. There were several problems. First, I live on the second floor of an apartment building and stayed home all day waiting for the delivery. The Amazon driver did not even bother to try my door, but instead left it @ the office. I tried calling Amazon customer service, but the representative I reached did not have a very good command of the English language and didn't really understand my problem. Since this trunk is too heavy for me to carry up stairs, a nice UPS driver, who happened to be there the same day, offered to help me. (THANKS UPS!) When I opened the package I was please @ the appearance of the trunk. It looked just like the photo...but then I opened it. Surprisingly, the trunk is made from CARDBOARD. The fittings are metal, but the handles are made from thick plastic. Seriously? Cardboard and plastic? But, wait, there's more. Upon closer inspection I saw 2 stickers that read, Compliant for formaldehyde. I called the manufacturer several times to ask about the use of formaldehyde in this product. I never reached a live person, but a recording stated that if I left a message they would call me back. They never did. A tag on the outside of this trunk proclaims that it is proudly made in the USA. I guess our manufacturing is no better any more than those overseas. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more money and purchase a chest that is all metal or wood. I wish I had.
