Everything in the kit is good except the 2.2X telephoto lens
David Sometimes FrustratedNovember 22, 2015
First the good news. The kit was shipped promptly and well packaged. The adaptor to take 62mm filters is also good quality and screws in just fine (so long as you are careful about the interrupted threading Nikon uses in the P610). This is good for 62mm filters. The three filters bundled with the kit are good quality. I really like the polarizing filter. The 2.2X telephoto adaptor can be used at shorter zooms to achieve nice effects such as short depth of field (although with some vignetting if you go too short).

The bad news. The telephoto lens does a very bad job at taking the Nikon P610 from 1440mm to 3168mm. Never mind losing two stops. That's physics. The killer is that even with a tripod you lose detail. Serious detail. If you want close ups of the moon, don't bother with this. Get a real 3000mm+ lens on a proper DSLR. I tested this in moon mode, full auto, and manual. It just doesn't stretch out your view as one would hope.

Everything in the kit is good except the 2.2X telephoto lens. At least on a Nikon P610. If you already bought it, use it for the depth reduction that you can't get with the small sensor in the P610. If you want to use filters on it, they are 72mm.

Of course you loose 2 f stops and zooming beyond 240mm must have tripod a good one. Going into digital zoom clicking is almost impossible to get good resolution! It works but I can't wait tl lay hands on coolpix p900 with 85x digital zoom!
