cracks appearing after just a couple months

Got these for my wife for her birthday. While the optics are decent and they look pretty stylish, the build quality is poor. After owning these binoculars for a couple months, I noticed that the black center plastic piece between the two lens barrels was cracked. In addition, it looks like the barrels are also beginning to crack where they meet the center black piece.
I'm not sure if it arrived cracked or if it cracked later. It's possible it was damaged during shipping and we just didn't notice. I admit that we didn't really inspect it. But we have been very gentle with it. When not in use, we always keep it in it's protective case. We've never even taken them out of the house, basically just some backyard bird-watching from the living room window. Nor do we have kids or pets, so there's no chance that it was damaged without our knowledge.
Update: Contacted company and received a prompt response. Offered me a discounted replacement which I declined.
