Those bumps are rubber plugs
Science Man•August 15, 2016
The box itself is very nice and has a lot of features that are nice for mounting circuit boards, etc. My problem is that those bumps on the sides of the box are somewhat thin rubber plugs. I did not realize this when I ordered -- I thought they were part of the plastic extrusion. I have to admit, I do not know how to use the rubber plugs to get waterproof cable entries. I wanted some sturdy, waterproof cable entry points and I was concerned that the plugs might pop out or that the holes I cut in them would let in direct water spray. I tried to use the box anyway which is why I did not return it.
I think it could be usable, perhaps with RTV to glue the plugs in place and seal around the cables. It might resist water spray but I definitely would not submerge it. In the end, I decided that I did not want cables going in all sides, so I abandoned this approach and used a box with solid plastic walls in which I drilled holes for cable glands.
