It works very well and I am mostly satisfied. However I did find it to be a bit short. Works great on apples and some pears. The lever at the top of the hollow tube creates a widening that splits the longer pears (like Bosc). If it was an 1" - 1 1/2" longer it would be perfect.

I have had several apple corers... none were strong like this one to get the job done... Also I really like how it opens up to release the core. Wish I had this one over the years bc in the fall, we go to local orchards for apples. I make pies, crisps, etc. and even freeze them. Coring has always been such a dreaded chore til now!
