Yummy.

Very great lemon flavor. However I deducted one star because of the jar design. The outside of the jar was sticky on one side. I wiped it clean. I placed it back in the box on it's side and more leakage. It says refrigerate after opening. So is a leaking jar open or closed? A shrink wrapped lid would be wonderful.

All those great reviews and a reasonable price, so I bought a jar and, FYI, finished half before posting any opinion. I am a confessed Marmaholic / Marmgourmand / Marmhead, searching for that perfect mmmmmmm moment, so let me be your "Mickey" and you decide.
I prefer a fine to medium shred ( orange peel ratio), so Wilkin and Sons Triptree qualified.
The price for a jar is in the low range compared to other brands. Who doesn't like a bargain?
For me, things went south from here because of the flavor profile. Flavor 1...overwhelmingly SWEET!
Whew, it was like a blast of pure glycerin, sweet, sweet, sweet, but without any real flavor.
Flavor 2....the sweet rolled into a complete lingering bitter. This flavor coats the mouth and stays put even after tea or coffee. All Marmgourmands search for that hit of bitter, but this seems beyond even the Seville real deal. To me it became a negative too much!
Where, you ask, is the orange?
Flavor 3.....I did not find a natural, clean, orange taste in the jelly at all! The sole orange note was in the shred ( rind slivers) which seemed to have been candied. Some might like candied orange peel; I found it gave an extra chewy texture to those bites.
Everyone has an idea of what the perfect marmalade must be. This brand is not mine. A good price is only a bargain if you eat the whole jar. The "Mickey" in me feels like I should get at least a few hours taken off of Purgatory for having eaten so much of this marmalade in the spirit of fairness and exploration!
Tomorrow I open a reserve jar of Chivers!
The only Tiptree that has dissappointed me so far.

I only buy Tiptree preserves, they have been great products. I have been trying each of their many products, but this one really dissappoints.
I did not notice that the first ingredient was sugar, and it has 66g per serving.
At least it isn't high fructose corn syrup.
The one and only for me

The "original" British marmalade. Thin, medium or thick cut, this is the real thing. Very tasty, yet not overly sweet, it has just the right consistency for toast. Does not drip/run over. Also, it does not need to be refrigerated after opening unless you manage to get butter into the jar, which will generate mold (use a butter knife to spread the butter, use a teaspoon to drop a dollop on your toast and spread it with the butter knife) . No extra funky/dubious ingredients. Just oranges and sugar.
This one was my "first love" and still is.
Wilkin & Sons: The best marmalade I've found

Superb marmalade, even better shipping. Shipped from England to my home in Pennsylvania in just a few days. Ample protective wrapping so no danger of dented cap or seepage. Perfectly fresh marmalade, the type that requires no refrigeration after opening (as long as you don't spoil it by using the same knife you used to butter your toast in the morning). There may be a better marmalade somewhere, but darned if I know where it is.
