Great universal tool

Nice tool, a new design on a tool from the 1930's . Still this old school wire clamp offers more compression than todays common band clamps where the worm gear screws often strip or slip. This clamp is more permanent and has to be cut to be removed. Great tool for field work when clamp size may vary, takes up much less room.
Good tools but not friendly price....

This thing is a bit clumsy to use with the wrong wire. I ordered what I thought might be the correct wire for it and I was wrong. The wire is key so do not order so big. If you read the tensile strength for wire sizes you find out that the thinner wire is stronger. I bought .051 stainless wire... don't... I have smaller wire coming and then I will love this thing I am sure..
This thing does the trick!

Works as advertised! Yes, a little tricky to use the first few times, and somewhat cumbersome even with larger diameter hard SS wire. If you want to use larger wire with it, maybe look into some Monel instead of SS aircraft wire. I made some 0.051" clamps for some intercooler hose boots where they passed through the cowl on a Cummins swapped WWII truck. There was no room for T-bolt or worm gear clamps, so this was a great solution for pre-assembly.

Note that this device doesn't work in a really tight area because you have to flip the clamp over 180 degrees to close the clamp out. To remove the clamp, just cut the "bridge" with some side cutters. I ordered some .041" SS wire to try with again to see if that goes easier. I'll use my 0.032" for garden hoses and such.

The price point IS a little high on them, however to build one yourself, from the stainless materials and brass, your time better not be worth anything and you better plan on making a lot of them. I'm okay with someone making some money on this very useful tool.

Watch the video on how to use it. It explains things very well.
Easier and harder to use than expected

I really couldn't find much as far as the proper wire size for any specific purpose. I bought two different wire sizes to try.

There definitely is a little practice needed to put the wire clamp on fast and efficiently. It was a little awkward at first, but by the third one, it went a little smoother.

You need to have enough room to flop the clamp 180 degrees at the end to lock everything in place. The clamp of perpendicular to the clamping piece. Like any tool, you are limited at times to where you can use it. You need to have a little space. I was able to clamp an air line to the back of a plasma cutter without much of a hassle. The fitting, is right at the case of the cutter. It worked pretty good for my first attempts. The hoses seeped air with the normal worm clamps.

It's a very simple process that is awkward until you're used to it. I'm throwing this in my off - road travel bag. Great sense of security to be able to make any clamp size that could come up.
