Short and sweet review. Material between main compartment and front compartment lasted less than a month. Now there is a big hole between the two.

An Excellent All-Purpose Tactical Pack!
Masta' C•August 6, 2015
First, let me say that I found these at my local big box store, we'll call it "Mal-Wart", for around $25. At that price, this backpack is nearly impossible to beat for its simple design, advanced organization and essential features.
What this pack does NOT have is any kind of internal frame system or hip belt for supporting really heavy loads and it's not made of true nylon material, so it's not what I would consider "battle-ready".
However, what it DOES have is a nice abrasion-resistant polyester construction, full MOLLE webbing on the back and sides, a good assortment of pockets and organizational elements, the ability to add a hydration bladder and a nice, clean overall look that doesn't scream "tactical nerd", making it great for a number of uses. It's also wonderfully lightweight compared to most name-brand "tactical" bags.
The basic design of this pack consists of a large main compartment with an elastic-lined sleeve against the back panel that can be used for a hydration bladder or additional organization/separation of contents.
The slightly smaller outer compartment is wide and tall with a very functional organizational divider that has places to put pens and pencils, a small mesh pocket, one sleeve type pocket with velcro strap closure and small slip pocket behind that for thinner items. The outer compartment also has an integrated key clip and a large zippered mesh portion on the outer flap that is exceptionally useful.
Outside, there is a small vertical pocket for documents on the front, a large water bottle sleeve on the side, a round zippered pocket on the opposite side of the water bottle holder, large zipper pulls, compression straps on the sides, loops for trekking poles and large flaps over the zippers that do a solid job of keeping contents dry. The shoulder straps are well padded and feature an integrated sternum strap. The back panel is lightly padded and both the back panel and shoulder straps use mesh panels for comfort.
I am currently using one of these packs as an emergency roadside and "get home" bag in my car. I managed to fit 2 fleece throws, a box of snack bars, several bottles of water, high intensity light sticks (for use as road flares), jumper cables, hand warmers, a large knife, a medium sized flashlight, an LED headlamp, pen and pencil, extra batteries, a large Leatherman multi-tool, a compass, duct tape, rope, first aid kit, trauma supplies, emergency whistle, disposable ponchos and even a spare box of ammo inside with room to spare!
The best part? It's all perfectly organized and easy to carry!
I use another one of these packs for light travel when I fly one of the budget airlines (Allegiant, Spirit, etc.) that will only allow a restricted size carry-on for free. This backpack can hold a surprising amount of clothes and toiletries without becoming bulky or misshapen and the organization works great for arranging toothbrushes, deodorant, keys, etc. in ways that are easy to see and get to.
If you want the absolute best pack you can buy for true field duty, I strongly recommend you go with a proven and much more expensive option from 5:11 Tactical, Camelbak, Sandpiper, Condor or Maxpedition.
But, if you want a solid-featured, well-functioning all purpose pack for use as a bug-out bag, emergency kit, book bag or tacti-cool urban accessory, look no further than this Outdoor Products "Quest" Day Pack!
The only reason I didn't give this backpack 5-stars is because the zippers aren't the greatest quality and I fear that, over time, the various plastic clips and connectors may be prone to breaking with heat, age and wear, although I have yet to experience any failure on any of the packs I purchased.
Highly recommended!
