This unit is simple to operate, and works as expected right out of the box. I am using it to feed audio from a mixing console to the input of a good 4K video camera with XLR inputs, and mobility untethered by wires is a must. A basic 3.5mm TRS to dual XLR (unbalanced) cable purchased separately connects to either the line out or headphone out jacks on the receiver (headphone output provides slightly more gain), and I am very satisfied with the audio quality. The 4 position EQ switch offers a low pass filter, a high pass filter, both filters, or no filters to tailor the sound. For my purposes I use the no filters position to get the full range audio for my video recording. The audio path is very low noise, which was a very pleasant surprise considering the cost of the system. Transmission range is surprisingly good as well, with great reception. My first test was from my basement floor to the second level of my home at the farthest points I could find, and had no problem with drop-outs or noise after the signal passed through two floors and several walls. The claimed 300 feet line of sight should be no problem. Construction quality is good "” not the best you can buy "” but likely the best you will find at this price. Whether you will be feeding earbuds, headphones, or a line input as I am doing, you should be very happy with this system. Highly recommended.
Best investment yet!

Best gear investment YET. Not only is this thing built quite well, it's a breeze to set up and get transmitting; and I'm one of those "skip directions, push buttons" types... After learning how to navigate the receiver menu, I set everything to channel 5, adjusted volumes and was good to go in less than 10 minutes. Sound? CRYSTAL CLEAR. No hiss, no buzz, no distortion. I play in a 4 piece punk band so if you're going to max out signal, we're the perfect test dummies. The ear buds are low end BUT - not one member complained about the sound; vocals are brilliant and instruments are incredible - to include the cranked up kick drum. I did upgrade the earbud foams to the noise cancelling memory foam pieces (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BFUTCA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_51) and they're awesome. I also have to say, the range is very impressive as well. We play in a subterranean basement studio (in a 108 year old house) and I walked upstairs and across the street and didn't lose clarity at all. Had to be every bit of 150ft away with the transmitter in the basement and I could hear everything, so I'm SUPER confident stage use won't be an issue here. Bottom line, I'd buy this again without question and highly recommend for anyone looking to ditch those stupid wedge playbacks and mess with wireless technology on a budget.
Not perfect, but generally good performance. Great for the price point.

So there is the occasional (not often) dropout, that can be resolved by hunting a new frequency (there are 99 available). What I would counsel everyone who might be interested in trying this unit.
1. It seems more sensitive to its environment than other (far more expensive and well known) brands. You can still get away with using this unit, but you need to get to know the frequency changing procedure by heart so that you can walk into a room, let everyone else turn on all their toys, then you go hunt for a good clean empty frequency, and then be prepared to maybe have to switch one more time during a gig (your sign of needing to do so being occasional half-second drop outs, which can be annoying and distracting for sure), but like I said, if you are really good a frequency swaps you can fix it before the next song in a set.
2. The buttons on this thing are small and (at least for me) is behind your back when gigging, so don't plan on doing any "fiddling" with this thing beyond moving the volume during a tune. To my way of thinking, other than volume, if you want to make changes on the unit, you have to be staring at the screen and buttons (and for me, have reading glasses on as well). Having said that, this is the same as the more expensive brands.
So, considering price point versus capability, I'd certainly buy this again. The only thing I can't speak to is durability just yet, only having had the thing for a few months, and now that I've decided that it is gig-worthy I have to get it into a rack unit to keep it safe during travels.

After opening the package, the device comes in its own plastic carrying case. That's a nice touch. All the parts are rock solid. I read about other low priced units that were cheap plastic. The Transmitter is in a steel case. I like that it has its own volume control. I also like that the transmitter has a headphone out, peak meter and limiter. It would be nice if it had a control knob for the limiter, but just watching you output source volume keeps it reasonable (update: limiter on off is in the receiver--hold right button down for a few seconds). There is enough volume on the earphone end to cause hearing loss, so you really can't ask for more there. As with all common sense, the included ear buds can be donated to your local thrift store. Someone else mentioned Easy KZ ZST Colorful Hybrid Banlance Armature with Dynamic In-ear Earphone 1BA+1DD Hifi Headset (colorful ZST NOMIC). I got those ($19.00), and they are about 6 db louder than the included set and have much better sound separation. The Easy KZ wires fall out with the slightest movement (crazy glued them) and they fall out of your ears (ordered expandable earphone tips from (Complyâ„¢ Foam Tips) --I will see if they work. I play guitar and sing on stage, so its important that I can move around. All the knobs and inputs on the transmitter are rock solid, including the antenna. I don't recall being this impressed by a new product before. I hooked it all up, figured out how to change the settings (basically just hold the right button down for a few seconds and the middle and left buttons help you change things). The receiver is rock solid too. It seems to be made of some kind of aerospace metal of some kind--feels like a military grade device. The whole package seems like it is made to last. The sound quality is acceptable for my purpose. Very little or no hiss is noticed with no sound present--cleaner at the low db setting. No need for the high db setting if you set other output volumes correctly--enough to injure your ears. I enjoyed getting the mix right and then turning the volume on the receiver down to a safe level. The sound is clean, loud and full--especially with quality ear buds (critical). I haven't found anything negative yet, but if I do, I will update this review.
Great Unit for the Price

Let me preface this review by saying that I consider myself a pro musician. I gig 30-40 times a year and personally use Sennheiser EW300 G3 systems with triple drive Alclair IEMs. This unit obviously doesn't compete with the Senny (but it shouldn't at 1/6th the price). However, I needed a cheap addition to the rig for a player who couldn't afford the pro stuff. I was very skeptical about this at first. However, I figured only being out $150 if it didn't work wasn't that much of a sacrifice. I've got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. It does the job, and is better than the old Carvin system they were using before.
Truth be told...the body pack I received was defective right out of the box. The power button did not function properly. It would turn the unit off, but not on. However, it would turn on when removing and putting a battery back in. However, I contacted customer service and I had a replacement in my hands within 48 hours. Now that's customer service! I'm happy to say, that the player had a super positive experience with it at her first gig. Only time will tell if the components last.
PROS:
Decent sonic quality. Plenty of Volume. Price. Price. Price.
CONS:
The only slight negative I have to say about it is that the body pack is plastic and doesn't seem like it will take much abuse. Just don't be in the habit of dropping your equipment.
OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- It operates in the 500MHz range so it won't soon be obsolete
- It DOES NOT come with a rack ear extension to make it 19" rack mountable.
- The antenna has a threaded connector, not BNC. Something to know if you want to rack it with your other equipment and front mount the antenna.
- It doesn't say anywhere in the manual, but to get into program mode on the body pack, you hold down the up/down cursors simultaneously.
Buy this and I hope you have the same positive experience.
