I was using a screwdriver before buying this.. and honestly this makes it cleaner but for 25 i think the screwdriver was the simpler and speedier version

This tool is a must for a lot of the Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. I use this drain tool on my 2006 Audi A4 2.0t. I would say using this is more of a requirement than a recommendation. You can still change your oil with out it, but it is a huge mess and oil will splash everywhere, where this tool makes the whole process very clean. It is very simple to use just pop the cap off the oil filter holder and screw this tool into the threads and let gravity do the work.

This really helped with making the oil change on my 2012 VW Passat less messy. First attempt without this tool was comical. I was used to standard spin-on metal filters. I learned that VW's are different the hard way. Oil was everywhere.... definitely not my best work. I was a little reluctant to buy another tool for such a simple job but it is well worth the investment.
Works on 2009 VW Rabbit (2.5L).

Didn't realize I needed this until we tried to do an oil change to my son's 2009 VW Rabbit (2.5L). With this tool, we could drain the oil filter cartridge before removing the cartridge to get to the filter. Well made, price is just right and easy to use. Definitely recommended!!!

I had a little difficulty putting it on the first time because of the angle. I would recommend running hot water through it before you use it for the first time to make the hose a little bit more flexible. At the very least, you will need another person to hold the other end for you for your first use. Other than that minor hiccup, it was easy to use and save me the hassle of cleaning up the extra oil from the filter housing.
