Self activated while sitting on shelf :( not ready for instant use

This product worked well once ready- nice size, consistent heat, kept hot long enough, and heated quickly.
However....
-if not used within a week or two the item would self activate while on my shelf and require boiling to return to its ready state (frustrating when you go to use it and it's not ready). For this reason alone, I wouldn't recommend it. Also...
-several times it didn't return to it's original state even after the recommended amount of boiling time ( it took 5-10 minutes longer)
-it requires a large amount of water and a large pot
-once boiled, the recommended towel on the bottom of the pot (to keep it from scorching) had to be dealt with (hot & soggy)
However....

My husband has pancreatic cancer and suffers from bouts of severe stomach aches. Heat helps to relieve his pain. I have ordered a bunch of these as so he can have a heating pad whenever he wants. I keep one in the car and take it with us wherever we go. Boiling it to reuse it is a small inconvenience to have the flexibility of using it where ever he needs it.

Work just as promised. I only wish the metal tab would be easier to find. My legs cramp at night after a back injury. I usually use these when I'm trying to sleep. The metal disk that you have to manipulate just floats around and is impossible to find without holding it up to the light.

I really like the idea of this reusable heating pad however it is just too much work to get it going. Each time you need to boil it, wait for it to cool, and then you can activate it. If you wait too long, it will harden up again and require it to be boiled again. Just takes too much time to get ready for each use. If it stayed in its liquid state after boiling and cooling and was ready to use, it'd be much more practical.

This is great and I love the velcro belt. I've used similar types but have found this one the best! (Other than a electric moist pad.) I've had multiple back surgeries and of course, chronic back issues. I've had this a couple weeks now and have used it in many situations. Heat before I go swimming is a biggy for loosening up those tightened muscles. I wrap this on, hop on my bike, ride to pool, remove pad, take my swim and it is still hot for the ride back! Perfect! Doesn't take long to boil to reset but the cooling does take a while. But plenty of time to use it again in the evening prior bedtime. Can't beat the price either. Well worth my $$$ so far!
