The combination of weight, security, and ease of putting on and adjusting really put this a cut above. It would be perfect, but unfortunately the design of the padding inside overlaps on each side of the ankle. It is right on the area of my incisions, and the seams of the stitching rub against it and makes it uncomfortable to sleep in. If you don't have incisions on the inside of your ankle, get this. If you do, consider the Standard as the padding smoothly wraps around your entire ankle.

Such a good quality boot! I got the xs and normally wear a women 5 and it was perfect! Good support and very comfortable.

The AirCast Walking Boot is a great choice since I've been using an AirCast Brand brace for some time; however, I returned it - read below. Due to my ankle fracture, I'll have to wait post-surgery for doctor's recommendations. The boot's hard shell edge put pressure on the exact spot of my fracture while walking, so no go. To be helpful, the boot is quite lightweight, but honestly any such boot is a hassle to get into. Since there were NO instructions with it when it arrived - proceed with caution when unstrapping the boot parts. The hard plastic top comes completely off like a sandwich and has black padding attached by double-sided tape. If you need an orthotic for arch support, you will need to add your own. And the boot will likely make that leg uneven with your other for a short term use. Make no mistake, I'm a big fan of the AirCast brand.

SIZING: I wear a Women's 8.5 US / 39 EU Narrow (like Birkenstocks) shoe. I'm 5 feet tall, so I have a short knee to ankle measurement. I ordered the Short Boot/ MEDIUM size. While wearing socks and standing, my toes reached the open end of the boot without going beyond the base - PERFECT fit for me. Might require an extra ankle wrap inside for someone with smaller bones.

RETURNS: I had no problems returning the MEDIUM boot thru Amazon. However, carefully read the Return Policy for each size. People have complained that the SMALL boot was NON-RETURNABLE, so choose carefully.

First off the air cast walking boots are an excellent product. I used an air cast walking boot about 25 years ago for a grade 2 tear of my right Achilles tendon.
I recently had an injury to my left ankle ( torn peroneal tendon and a fracture ) the cam boot given at the Dr office was good. But once I knew the extent of the injury I decided that due to the good experience I had with air cast years ago to get another one for this injury.
Alother the design had changed some the air cast elite is the best boot. It provided almost full immobilization and the comfort level of the elite is beyond words with the 3 air cells it's even better then the original that only had 2. These are very well made and are the closet boots to an actual cast. Over all I'm very well pleased and would recommend this to anyone requiring a walking boot. Would definitely buy again.
The comfort level between the soft cam walker boot and the air cast elite is the like night and day.

Exact same cast that my Orthopedic Dr sells, but this one is a huge savings.
