Handy low cost alternative

If you get them strapped on really well, so they don't slide off, they will poke alot of nice perforations into your lawn. Assists with the reproductive process of your lawn. Much easier to use than a standard lawn aerator, although the diameter of the holes are much smaller. Be careful when handling or assembling, very sharp spikes can cause injury.

So easy to assemble and use. Looks like some sort of medieval torched devise, but I am so pleased with them. I did water the lawn a few hours before trekking out there to poke holes all over the place and could feel a difference in the drier areas. Strapped these on tight over my running shoes and stomped, straight up and down steps, around for 20 minutes or so. A suggestion: make sure you use the included little wrench to tighten all the nuts in place really well, otherwise you will have to stop every 10 steps or so and tighten them down again. I only did this a few days ago, so cannot speak to the effectiveness of the aeration itself to my lawn, however, these shoes are awesome at poking holes and giving me a bum work out!
Useless for smaller sized feet

I wear a size 6 shoe and tried the Aerator shoes with work boots and tennis shoes and unfortunately neither worked well. I couldn't get more than 6-10 steps in before the shoes pulled off. I repeatedly tightened the straps, ensured I stepped straight up and down, etc and it didn't help. The shoes may work well for people with larger sized feet but for me these are worthless.
If you can't get growth due to compacted soil these are okay but a dethatcher is better.

The screws do come lose after a while, you cant tighten anymore, very difficult to walk on them even to do the job of irrigating, I cant fault them for the difficulty of walking due to extreme drought here in florida, everything is so dusty and the soil here is so dry. Will try them later and revise my review if warranted.
