Doing a Japanese Tea Ceremony is a lot of fun. This is a great beginner set to get started with. I was happy with everything that came in this set. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because of the small amount of Matcha tea that came with the set. For some reason they include other teas with your order that would not be used with this set. The quality of the tea is good but the quantity is small. Once you have tried Matcha you'll never be happy with plain old green tea again.

First of all, I am delighted with the color and beauty of the matcha bowl. It is a nice glazed earthy blend of black, brown, and reddish yellow. The bowl itself is very solid feeling. The matcha whisk (Chasen) is beautiful as well, but very delicate. It does the job fine, but be careful when washing it after use (I just rinse mine in hot water) The chasen holder (that blue egg thing) does the job well when you are either scooping or sifting the matcha. The bamboo serving board is simply beautiful and an excellent way of carrying your matcha set with you. The bamboo sifter is sturdier than most mesh sifters, but the bamboo seems to be fake on it (plastic?) Not a big deal though. The bamboo scoop works just fine and has a simple beauty to it. And finally the Matcha tea itself: I love the taste and color of this tea. It really has a refreshing green and healthy taste to it. I only wish that there would be more included with the set. Luckily, teavana carries some matcha, but you can always order it from Tealux as well.

If you want an authentic way of preparing Japanese Matcha the correct way, then trust me, it is worth the $70.

I'd never made matcha before, but wanted to try it to sharpen mental focus prior to meditation -
this set is just what I needed. It comes with all necessary equipment (except perhaps a container to hold the matcha powder other than the included plastic ziplock bag of tea) and a small but sturdy tray. All the items seem well made and are attractive and easy to use. Also easy to clean - all can just be rinsed with warm water. The bamboo whisk should be handled with care as it is by nature a little fragile and easy to bend or break the individual strands.
I watched several videos on YouTube and feel like I know what I'm doing now after about 3 weeks of almost daily use.
I can't comment on the quality of matcha as it's the only one I've tried so far, but I like it - taste and smell.
This would make a beautiful gift. Btw, I think it does help me focus due to a more subtle caffeine effect than coffee.

I recently got into making matcha and wanted a set that had all of the necessary items. This set was perfect- it has everything you could need to make matcha! Everything came nicely packaged and is excellent quality. The matcha powder they give you isn't the greatest that I have tried but for a beginner it works just fine (I highly recommend DoMatcha matcha powder instead). My husband said the kit sitting on the counter makes our kitchen look "boujee" but in all honestly it does look very beautiful put together and is a great conversation starter! Highly recommend this kit!
