Long lasting and works for my children. The info on the back tells you only to give this to children ages 6+ and that it lasts for 6-8 hours. I would say it usually lasts for 7 hours, at least. This is great for children in school, because one dose will last them for the day. Most cold medicines only last 4 hours, so this lasts almost twice as long. The recommended dose for 6-12 year olds is 2 teaspoons or 10 ml.
I find that I can give a half dose to my four year old and it works for him. I know some parents would not want to give it to a younger child, but my doctor said it was fine as long as I adjusted the dosage.

For common colds and illnesses nothing beats Robitussin. I know that I may just be going for the brand name, but this is seriously the only stuff that works for me, and in this particular case my daughter. She takes after me and does not respond to most medicines (aspirin for example is useless to either of us). This does the trick for her.
