i never played bass before and i don't know how far i will actually take learning it. if i'm actually serious and stick with it for a while, then i can always upgrade it a year or 2 down the line but i was not going to spend a lot of money upfront for a "quality" bass if i didn't know.

the amp (and cable) works, the bass works, the bass is comfortable to hold, the strap holds (but i don't really test it often since i'm sitting down most of the time), and the sound quality is pretty decent to me but probably terrible to the trained ear.

perfect for starting and learning the basics which is what i've been doing since it came in. learned a few riffs, a song, and have no complaints so far. i dabbled a bit on an acoustic guitar that also has fret markers, but i realized that the bass has additional fret markers on the side of the neck which is super helpful for a beginner like me.

i don't use the picks so no comment there but it came with 13 picks and a holder. the tuner is pretty much useless since it *has* to be clipped to the actual instrument to pick up any sound and there's nowhere thin enough nor convenient to clip the tuner to. i kind of figured it would be a cheap tuner anyway and never planned on using it. it also came with an extra string i didn't need to use yet and a polishing cloth that i will probably never use.

Our young son was interested in a beginner guitar set. After some research, we decided to purchase this bundle. Not only does it contain everything he needs to get started, but the various pieces, especially the guitar, seem to be high quality. Equally important, the seller was very responsive and reputable. When we made our original purchase, the amplifier arrived somewhat damaged from the shipment, but the seller sent out a replacement immediately. Overall, we are very pleased with both the product and the seller, and most importantly, our son loves his new guitar set!

Great kit for a beginner. The amp is quiet but using headphones you get good sound. Bass is comfortable and I didn't need to get it set up. You'll be playing in minutes.

What should you expect for 160 bucks? A decent instrument to learn on, and amp that works, a sturdy bag for it, good cables, and an iffy tuner. It's just fine and great for the money. Most importantly it's really fun!
