Fit of Swaddlers without the rash
cobugi✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 14, 2023
I did my research when I got pregnant and purchased an impressive assortment of "nicer," greener, less chemical, more sensitive diapers. From expensive Bambo to more affordable seventh generation. We've tried them all... Honest, baby mama, earth's best, eco by naty (the cutest diapers BY FAR!!!!), and a few more I can't remember.
Yes, I am ashamed to admit I was one of those FTM who would look down on Pampers, Huggies, etc, thinking they were inferior.

But then the hospital gave us some Pampers Swaddlers and we noticed the softness and fit were really unmatched by any "green" diaper, which tend to be crinkly and leaky. And why pay more for more crinkle?! But then it gave my Ezcema prone baby rashes...

So then we found Pampers Sensitive and all of our problems were solved. Yes, these DO HAVE fragrance. But they are different from regular Swaddlers because they don't cause a rash on my very sensitive daugther. So I don't mind the frangrance at all..

More recently, we've tried Pampers Pure, which I believe are going to be replacing Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive, and while they are great and DO NOT HAVE fragrance, it does not warrant the ~40% price difference in my opinion. I do like the llamas on them A LOT, but not all of them have llamas.. lol.

I am currently looking for a replacement since I can't find these in a size 4 anywhere. I really hope Pampers continues to make them because if the only option for sensitive babies is paying at least 50 cents a diaper for Pampers Pure, I will reluctantly have to find a different brand.
Dry-Max vs. Non Dry-Max ... are you confused? Maybe I can help!

New parent here. I have been using Swaddlers since my baby was born (newborn size). Great diapers in my opinion.

I had read that some Pampers diapers had Dry-Max in them and that it could irritate sensitive skin. However, as much reading I did online I never got a good concrete answer on which Pampers Swaddlers had dry-max in them.

To convolute things even more, go to a local store that sells diapers and you will probably find that some Pampers Swaddlers packages say "with Dry Max" on them and some dont (I'm not talking about the Sensitive version - Just regular Swaddlers). So Pampers makes two versions of Swaddlers, one with Dry max and one without? WRONG! (well, at least according to Pampers themselves that is wrong). Straight from Pampers customer service:

1. Any regular Pampers Swaddlers (non-Sensiitive versions) diapers have Dry-Max (regardless of whether it says Dry-max on the packing or not)

2. Pampers Swaddlers SENSITIVE do NOT have Dry-Max

I confirmed this by sending them the product codes of various diapers I had bought online and in actual stores, and they confirmed that each one had dry-max in it (even though some of the packaging did not explicitly say dry-max on it).

For the really confusing part, there is a non-sensitive Pampers Swaddlers Newborn diaper that does NOT have dry-max in it, even though it is packaged like a "regular" Swaddler (i.e. non-sensitive). Look closely and you will see on each of these newborn packages that it has a special little symbol on it that reads "SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL PRODUCT". What's that all about? I contacted Pampers again:

"Thanks for writing!

There is some packaging that is normally not offered at the retail level. These Swaddlers are going to be plain white for the hopsitals, and the make up of the diaper is like Swaddlers Sensitive. "

So at least for some newborn Swaddlers, they are made like Sensitive Swaddlers and do not have dry-max. Those diapers can be found here (see sellers Trend Marketing or Planet Stuff):
Pampers Swaddlers Newborn 240 Diapers (12 packs of 20)

whew...that was confusing right? So in summary, according to Pampers themselves:
ANY "regular" Swaddlers have Dry-max, UNLESS the packaging says "SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL PRODUCT" on the outside.
ANY "sensitive" Swaddlers do NOT have dry-max.

I hope this helps someone!!
**THE BEST** Brand Name Diapers - Will Never Use Any Other Brand

My daughter is almost 6 months old and since she was born, I've had the opportunity to try hundreds of brand-name diapers that were given to me at my diaper party. These diapers ranged from Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs. Within the Huggies & Pampers line, I had different "models" at my disposal, such as Pampers Swaddlers & Pampers Baby Dry as well as Huggies Little Snugglers, Huggies Snug & Dry, and even Huggies Snug & Dry Plus. However now that I've run out of those, I am now purchasing my own diapers. Based on my experiences, Pampers Swaddlers are ***THE BEST*** diaper I've used thus far. And because of that, I will never go back to any other diaper. I've literally given my unused packages/boxes of Huggies diapers to local charities for those in need.

The reason I love Pampers Swaddlers is that they are the *ONLY* diaper that does not leak. The fit absolutely perfect and I've never had an issue with them. EVER! However, this is not to say that all Pampers diapers are good. I've tried Pampers Baby Dry, which is a more economical version of their diaper, and that diaper does not come close to the performance of the Swaddlers line. Baby Dry would would leak and/or sag to cause more leakage. The Huggies brands however, are even worse. I can't tell you how many times my daughter's daycare had to change her clothes due to constant leakage of the diaper (EVEN WITH 2 hour change intervals). Huggies is simply garbage because it soaks up literally nothing. I'm left to wonder if various boxes of the Huggies diapers I've used even has any sodium polyacrylate in them. FYI, sodium polyacrylate is the "super absorbent polymer" that absorbs moisture in all brands of diapers. While Pampers Swaddlers would "bulge up" and absorb my daughter's urine, the Huggies line never bulged up. Meaning they never absorbed anything. Leading to the urine-soaked clothes that my daughter experienced every day.

The color-changing wetness indicator is a nice touch. The equivalent brand version of Huggies that has this is the Little Snugglers. But just as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, it leaked and never seemed to fit right on my baby. Although I'd pull them up as high as they could go, there seemed to be a huge "pocket" around my baby's bottom, which would be one of the reasons for the sag/leakage.

Another reason I like the Pampers Swaddlers is their shape allows for a snug fitment. Pampers is the only diaper with "tags" on both ends to provide a 360 degree full fitment around the waist. No other brand of diaper I've seen does this.

The Pampers Swaddlers line goes all the way up to size 5. I'm glad because it's the only diaper that I trust. So I'll be buying these until my daughter grows out of them. I stand by my review 100% and have NEVER been disappointed by the Swaddlers line.
Great for new moms and dads, but I now prefer Pampers Baby Dry

Let me start by saying that I don't think all diapers are best for every baby. Meaning, what's best for my child isn't going to be what's best for someone else's child, simply because our little ones come in all shapes and sizes! We first used Pampers Swaddlers in the hospital because it's what the hospital provided. Therefore, I continued to use them when my daughter came home from the hospital. As a new mom, I saw what worked, and went with it. I loved the fact that I didn't have to guess, or feel, if she was wet! Better yet, neither did my husband - who had never been around a baby before in his life. We used Swaddlers in the newborn size and size 1. However, when the size 1 were too small, and I moved to size 2, they were too big for her (she's in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height). We had problems with stuff leaking out around her legs. The other problem I began having was leaking at night. She would wake up in the morning and her onesie and sleeper would be completely soaked! Someone told me that her daughter had the same problem, and recommended that I switch to Pampers Baby Dry at night, which offers 12 hour leak protection. I am so happy I did! She hasn't had a leak at night since. For daytime diapering, I began using Luvs, which I really like. The Luvs and Baby Dry both have a pleasant smell, where as the Swaddlers have a chemical smell. I finished my box of Luvs, and still had all of the Swaddlers Size 2 to use up, so I am back to using Swaddlers until they are gone. They fit her better now that she's a little bit bigger, but I am looking forward to when they are used up, and I can completely switch over to Pampers Baby Dry, for daytime and nighttime! I will say that no matter which diaper you choose, order them from Amazon, especially if you have a Prime membership! It's cheaper and very convenient!
My favorite brand of diapers.

I've only ever tried three brands - Huggies, generic Kroger brand, and Pampers - but Pampers are my favorites so far. Pampers seem to be the perfect balance for an unusually long (she was in the 97th percentile when she was born and growing like crazy) and adventurous baby. I've been using this brand for the majority of her 9 months of life, with a few other brands I got at baby showers being used in between. I've almost never had leaks with Pampers, even when she sleeps in them over night. Now at 30.5" and 21 lbs, she's still in this style just a size bigger. I haven't needed to switch to cruisers even though she's been crawling and now cruising for 3 months. These just work too well.

The Huggies weren't bad, they just didn't work well with my daughter's shape. They leaked a lot through the legs, but I'm willing to try them again with my next kid if the Pampers don't work. The Kroger brand was OK but don't have the absorbency of Huggies or Pampers and rarely lasted through naps or car trips without leaks. They didn't have wetness indicator stripe either, though with experience it's not hard to tell when your baby is wet. I had a ton of them from diaper cakes though, so I ended up using them when I knew we weren't going anywhere for a while.

I've seen a lot of complaints about defects in the top reviews. I haven't ever had an issue quite like these folks have experienced. I had one set whose wetness indicators weren't working as well as others, but that was about it. Honestly even if I had a pack that was bad, it's pretty easy to return things via Amazon and you can't beat the discounted sets automatically showing up at your door. Just give yourself a little breathing room just in case and you'll be fine :)

P.S. the Pampers Baby Dry 12 hour diapers are great for your kid to sleep in or take long road/plane trips in too :)
