good idea, bad execution

I tried to make a tomato trellis by connecting 11mm plant stakes of 5 and 6 feet in length with these connectors. The connectors aren't even strong enough to hold just the plant stakes upright. As soon as I tried to put the trellis upright, the two pieces of some connectors separated while other connectors popped off from the stakes, causing the whole trellis to fall apart.
