SECOND UPDATE
I hereby toss this belt into the trash can. After only three months use, its ratchet mechanism is totally unreliable. Sure, they offer a lifetime warranty. Now, I understand why. It is because the manufacturer knows these belts won't last. I see no point in using warranty service, however, since it is self-evident any new belt will suffer the same design flaw. I will just eat my loss.
FIRST UPDATE
My original review (see below) was 5-star. I am downgrading it to a 1-star, for two reasons:
(1) Although I have had this belt, for only a few weeks, its ratchet mechanism is already beginning to slip.
(2) Most people gain a few pounds, over the winter, and then lose it again as summer approaches. This belt does not accommodate that because once you cut it to a specific length, you are committed to that waist size for the duration of ownership.
In summary, there is good reason why this belt has a unique design that no other belt manufacturer uses. The buckle's ratchet mechanism is a poor long-term solution to the necessity of securing your pants to your waist. Regardless of whether the manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty, it is easier just to wear a conventional belt so that you don't have to contend with warranty service, in the first place.
Having now worn this belt, for a few weeks, the buckle's ratchet mechanism has become so unreliable that I have to readjust it, several times throughout a day.
ORIGINAL
Very dressy belt. High quality. Appears to be manufactured from full-grain leather, which is the best leather. The latching design guarantees a perfect length and fit. The only shortcoming (if any) is that buckle selections from this manufacturer are limited.
For example, there are casual social situations, where I like to wear a buckle that depicts my personality and interests, such as an "anchor" belt buckle that reflects my interest in boating and sailing. This manufacturer has nothing like that. Their selection of buckles is limited to formal, dressy styles, such as what a man would wear with a business suit.

Quality and Practicality
Aunt T✓ Verified Purchase•December 31, 2016
I bought this as a gift for my husband. This belt and buckle are beautiful! The quality looks very nice and the mechanism is very easy to operate. We are both very pleased with the purchase and expect it to be durable as well as practical.
