I love this! I was really holding back from playing ...
Karin J.•November 24, 2017
I love this! I was really holding back from playing N64 games because the stick it a little messed up and it can be frustrating to play games, having difficulty controlling the character. My boyfriend got a new controller with this device already installed, and after trying it out, I had to have one for my controller!
It's fairly easy to install, and once you use it, you'll never want to go back to the old N64 thumbstick! It takes all the frustration out of controlling the game characters (unless you're playing Superman 64, there's no hope for that game). I especially love it because I am really used to the gamecube controller so it feels really natural.

Finally i can enjoy my n64 again.

I have 3 original n64 controllers. I have love/hate relationship with my old system. I own it for nostalgia purposes. But it is my least favorite system due to poor controller design by Nintendo. The n64 joysticks are prone to wear and when that joystick wears down it is very noticeable and takes the enjoyment out of playing. I figured I'll take a shot at replacing the stick bases on some positive reviews. I purchased one, it was easy to replace and I was happy with the results. Now the joystick is much more sensitive then the original joystick. But I am very happy with my controller now. So much that I bought two more for my other controllers. Mario runs and tipsy toes great. I can now easily perform tricks in wave race 64 and fps are now enjoyable to play albeit a learning curve is involved because of the sensitivity. My controllers feel Like New.
Good level of sensitivity with practically no dead zone.

Apparently there are 2 versions of this replacement joystick. There seems to be some sensitivity issues with the older version that they managed to fix with this one. The newer one has a hole in the middle of the stick and a rubber grip (as pictured).
It was very easy to install and fit perfectly, no modification of the controller housing was necessary.

Cheap, low-quality stick

Good: It works?
Bad: There's a weird off-center deadzone, and there's hardly any gradient between a slight tilt and a full on smash.
If you just want to play Super Mario 64 or Pokemon Stadium and not think too much about the game, this is fine. If you're kinda nitpicky and need precise control, look for something else.

Installation was very easy. I have read reviews of joysticks needing modification ...

Installation was very easy. I have read reviews of joysticks needing modification before fitting but I had no trouble at all. Game play is so much better. I have only played Super Mario 64 with it so far, but I haven't had any problems with sensitivity. It's easy getting Mario to walk slowly or run. I just bought it, so I can't speak to longevity, but it feels just like a Gamecube joystick. I am strongly considering buying more for my other controllers.
