Just got it, no whining yet...

So, the kit came WAY better than I expected. The quality of the contents are amazing. There seems to be everything needed for some good (hopefully) wine making. The only issue I have is that the description says that there is a DVD that is included in the kit. This is not the case I emailed the seller and got a response in less than an hour! They removed the DVD from the kit however there is an issue with changing the description on amazon.com. I can understand this hiccup and the seller was more that ready with sites and youtube videos that he said were even better than the DVD. I can not express how much I love customer service like this! I can only give 4 out of 5 for the miss print DVD and the fact that I have not yet tried the equipment out for real yet. I will revise once I start the wine process.

Hope this review is informative.
Nothing missing.

As a complete novice I wanted an affordable starting kit wit the least amount of hassle. This fit the bill perfectly. Nothing was missing and the kit arrived swiftly and intact.
Can’t figure out what to do with all the parts

I thought it would have all the basic equipment to make a batch of wine. It was supposed to have a hydrometer, but it does not. Also meta bisulphate would have been helpful. The instructions were very vague. Not all pieces were labeled.
most of the stuff you need

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and he already has 5 gallons of wine racked. ( I just learned that means it is out of the plastic bucket into the glass carboy this takes 7-10 days.) He bought a few extras like a long curved carboy brush and of course the grape juice for the type of wine he wanted to make. He seems to really be enjoying his first wine making. I am amused with all the cleaning that gets done to everything. I mean if people used to walk in their bare feet to squish the grapes then why are we so cautious about a little germ that might be in the bottom of the bottle? But better to error on the side of clean than not I guess. I bought a couple of extra containers of yeast to go with it.
Great starter equipment kit

The good:
- The DVD was great for a good overview and understanding of the wine-making process
- Hydrometer is good.
- The glass carboy is the best!
- Bottle brush: pretty good. standard brush, does the job. It'd be cool if there was one that didn't spray chemicals all over me when I took it out of the bottle, though...
- Bottle filler: It drips a little bit more than I want to, and the tip is sensitive, so I splashed a good amount coming out of the bottle. It also doesn't fill the bottle as high as I would like...not sure how to fix that.
- Corks are...not that great, but hey, extra corks! Wine Kits usually come with them anyway.
- Corker: Leaves an indent in the cork, and is a little tough, but I think its supposed to be one of the better ones out there

Not as good:
- Starter packets of sterilizer are not enough for a full batch.
- Airlock and bung aren't that great. It's the plastic 1 chamber floaty kind.
- Primary fermentation bucket isn't that sturdy, I've already dented it and made marks from maneuvering it, and the cap fits only loosely.
- Thermometer is not that great...it's a sticker for your bucket. Had to invest in a floating one.
- Siphoning tubes: Kind of short? Or maybe my counter is just tall.
- Mixing tool -- I've read bad reviews about it heating up when using a drill to operate. It's just a bent up plastic stick, in my opinion, with a little cup to fill with water to "prevent over heating"

Things I invested in due to it's poor quality or absence in the kit:
- Floating thermometer
- Additional cleaner/sanitizer --> Instructions are not very clear on the C-Brite, I would get 1-Step or Star San when you get full-sized.
- Better airlock
- Wine Thief (to get samples and get the temperature/hydrometer readings)
- Stirring tool with 3 legs (the kit comes with a plastic spoon)
