It's very messy
Love to teach✓ Verified PurchaseJune 3, 2018
It definitely seals. This is the gooeyest stuff I have ever used. Don't get it on your skin. Unless you want to paw at it like a coyote with fleas, don't get it on your skin. I have some from two weeks ago still on me. I'm not kidding. It will come off, but it's nasty.

Worked as expected.
LONG Cure Time + About Date Code / Lot code
GreenEngMarch 6, 2017
Be aware the cure time on this product can be VERY LONG. 7 days on the spec sheet at 50% humidity and 75F, but longer if colder or drier! You're not supposed to paint it before it cures.

I applied some in cool weather and 24 hours later still sticky and screwed up my job by "testing" it. Thought maybe like silicone I had an old batch that wouldn't cure properly. Called support and they advised it's normal for the stuff to take many days to cure.

Shelf life is 12 months, but HOW TO TELL MFG DATE? The lot code is printed on the bottom of the tube (on aluminum plunger) but format does NOT match the spec sheet! E.g. mine has 3R6333K202. First two chars are location code, next digit is last of year (6=2016) next THREE digits are day of the year (day 333 of 365= late November), last four are lot code.

Old tubes will completely harden up, unlike some silicone which sometimes will stay soft but never cure. I think if you can still dispense this stuff it will cure OK but I'd test old stuff before using.

The PL sealants (and adhesives) are super - really bombproof and last forever. However be aware not easily tooled (very gooey and sticky). For locations that will show use blue tape both sides of joint, smear with finger over tape edges, and remove tape immediately. Then don't touch it for SEVERAL DAYS. For general paint applications you might want to consider a more normal caulk for easier tooling and faster cure prior to painting.

The stuff DOES smell like chocolate.
I swear it smells like chocolate cake! Its an amazing sealant!

This is AMAZING sealant. It is technically not branded as an adhesive, but it will absolutely adhere most finishes. This IS the caulk you want to use for roofing and even any general sealing you need to do that may involve weather. I feel it is superior to silicone for most applications, bearing in mind that it is also pitch black in color.

I am 100% dead serious when I say that this caulk SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE CHOCOLATE CAKE.
Nothing like it. Should be made in Levi blue also

Not only fixes roofs, but jeans, shoes, hats, toys, etc. Nothing like it. Should be made in Levi blue also.
