Misleading product description. The description from the manufacturer states that this is USP - United States Pharmacopeia - which is a U.S. quality standard. The product, when it arrived, did not have any USP markings, and (as other reviews have mentioned) did not have the characteristic smell of ichthammol. Doing some research online, it seems that this does NOT qualify as USP ichthammol - it is instead a vegetable oil product produced in China under the Chinese definitions. The reason it doesn't have the smell is because it isn't the same thing.
I figured I would give it a shot, even if it wasn't the legitimate product. It did nothing.
I returned the product to Amazon (luckily, this was fairly easy). I also filed an 'incorrect product information' report with Amazon, but it has been a month and this is still listed in such a way as to mislead people as to what it is.
Don't waste your money on this. Ultimately, I ordered a tube of the Rite Aid ichthammol, and while it was slightly more expensive, it was actually what it was supposed to be, and worked well.

I have used Ichthammol for years. The 20% is best. Don't get the 10%. Orignally was used only on horses. Works great to draw out infections. I once had some critter burrow under my nail on the big toe when I was on a boardwalk on the beach. Couldn't see it, but it was inflamed and hurt to walk. Put some Ichthammol ointment on it, covered it with a bandaid. In 2-3 days it "blew" a hole in the middle of my nail and pus came out == worked great. Also have used it for boils/carbuncles. Better than going to the doctor to have the boil lanced.

Amazing product. Tried several drawing salves with no success. 2 days of application of this salve and it pulled a thin metal wire to the surface in the end of my second toe. Was able to get hold of it with tweezers. 1/2" long thin metal that looked to be from a wire grinding wheel. Had to start a hole with a needle and 2 days later the problem is gone. This stuff is amazing! My fiance stepped on broken glass and had a piece stuck in his foot for weeks. A nurse friend suggested this as a last effort before having the hospital fish it out. We applied the ointment, wrapped his foot, and went to sleep. In the morning it was obvious that a large part had been pushed out. After 3 nights of use, no more glass!

I bought this for a stubborn ingrown hair(s) that refused to make its way to the surface so that I could tweeze it out. I couldn't see any hair but the area was inflamed so I was close to going to my Dermatologist when I saw this cream on Amazon. Don't worry that there is no smell. They've reworked the formula to take care of the smell associated with Ichthammol. THIS STUFF IS AMAZING. Covered area with a bandage after putting the ointment on overnight and within 3 days, 4 hairs made their way to the surface. I plucked them out and finally relief. Do yourself a favor and get this just in case or if you have anything to bring to the surface. IT WORKS!!!! ðŸ'ŒðŸ½
