Our favorite oatcakes!

My husband and I used to stuff our carry-on bags with these crackers every time we returned from a visit with my family in England, so we were delighted to find that we could order them from Amazon. They are terrific paired with cheese and accompanied by a cup of tea in the afternoon. Well, my husband might say beer instead of tea, but to each his own. They are not the crisp, slightly greasy crackers that most Americans are accustomed to, but a softer, drier, more crumbly variety that goes nicely with hard or soft cheeses.
Very disappointed and suspect it is due to we American's expecting ...

Lack of flavor......surprised us that the texture was firm. Very disappointed and suspect it is due to we American's expecting a different taste in a biscuit. Maybe it was just too healthy to have a good taste. KCA
A NON sweet cookie. Good for dunking.

If you prefer a crispy cookie that is NOT SWEET. These are great for dunking in coffee or tea. Sometimes I spread a wee bit of peanut butter on them.
Very English Oat Crackers

I wanted to try these because I am looking for healthier alternatives in the cracker realm. I liked the taste. The crackers were drier than an American cracker. These are made by a very old recipe & approved by the Queen. I was sorry to see that they also have wheat flour, as I am gluten intolerant.
Fine textured. Good with Stilton or a tasty Cheddar.

These are great for serving with cheese, particularly Stilton or a tasty English/Welsh/Irish Cheddar. I found the texture to be a bit finer than what I remember eating at my Scottish in-laws. Will try the Nairn's Rough Oatcakes next time to compare.
