I live in Arizona and these waterers work great if you following the directions. I use them in my gardenias and other shrubs that require moist soil. These waterers make it easy for me to vacation in the summer for a few days without worry. I went to the Dollar Store and bought bottles the same size as wine bottle in various colors and patterns and use them. Even in the desert I only have to add water to the bottles about every 1 1/2 to two weeks.

Did not work for me. My soil is almost dry, bottle is full, water is not transferring from that terracotta sleeve to soil. I already kept the sleeve soaked for a at least 8 hours before I planted them in soil but no work.
Soil doesn't draw water from these very well.

The soil will not draw water out of these for some reason. I even pre-soaked them! My plants will have a full bottle of water set into the terracotta plant waterer and the soil will be dry and leaves wilted. I don't understand because I bought some similar terracotta watering cones meant for smaller bottles with screw caps and those work fine.
Great product when you need the plants to be watered during vacation.

Tested it 7 days straight in 85 degree weather. I was preparing for a trip and wanted to see how well these performed. I tested a 750ml wine bottle and a 1.5 L wine bottle. The 750ml lasted about 7 days, the 1.5 L could have easily lasted 14 days, but decided to refill the bottles before they empty. I followed the instructions and watered the plants deeply, then made a small hole for the stakes, Inserted the stakes carefully and added the water bottles.
I'm beyond satisfied, and had peace of mind when traveling.

The item was perfectly and securely packaged. It was exactly as described. The instructions were on the box very clearly and I even got an email with instructions which were nice because I probably would've skipped over the instructions on the box and just assumed I knew what I was doing (I did not. The instructions are VERY helpful). I'm excited to have these. I need wine bottles, I'm using a soda bottle for now. It isn't that we're away a lot. I just tend to forget the plants or get nervous about root rot and don't water them enough. I figure these should help my plants have some consistency in their lives.
