I ordered a black and an orange of this hat, both in size large. The orange fit like it was custom made to my head. The black fit the diameter of my head fine, however, it did not have enough material above the band to keep it on my head. It would pop up every time I put it on because the top of my head pressed at the top of the hat. The orange one did not have that problem. I would give the orange one 5 stars and the black one 0 stars, so I compromised in my rating.
In regards to the hat itself, it is made for cold weather. Not only does it have the pull-down flaps, but it is also insulated. It will be quite warm in the winter. I am excited to wear the orange one outside, as I like winters. I would not suggest this hat for warm weather or even for wearing indoors unless you are the type person that is always cold. (or has a bald head)
While I am very disappointed that one of the two hats (of the exact same size) was made incorrectly, I really like the one that was made well. And I still want a black leather hat. Therefore, I will order a similar black hat that does not have the flaps in the hopes that it will be made correctly. I would have sent the black one back for a replacement, but I was afraid that it might have come from a bad run and I would be back with another bad hat.
With that being said, I previously read a review from a man that had a similar problem with a leather hat from the same company and that one did not have flaps. It may simply be a quality control problem with the cuts of leather and how they are stitched together. If the next black hat from this company has the same problem, then I will return that one too and order from another company.
One other thing, if the manufacturer is reading these reviews; I do not like that metal emblem. In order for it to be attached, you cut two slits in the hat. That could lead to a ripped hat or rust forming on the metal inside when a person's head sweats. Leave the logo off.

Unfortunately, my much anticipated hat arrived with a defect. While the sizing and color were spot on, the bill was sewn in crooked. I was forced to do a return and reorder. Hopefully, the second order arrives without the defect.

I purchased a couple of inexpensive hats to try this style of hat out. Premise: I am NOT a hat guy. So, I get those hats and like the style. I now refine my style into a look...

This hat LOOKS GREAT on my with a slightly longer bill in the front...but the FEEL of the leather is soooooooooooo gooooood...

I want to sleep in the hat it feels so good. Adjusting the hat and feeling the "plushness" of the leather and the stiching is fantastic.
Now, when it gets warm here in CA, I may not be able to wear it as much. BUT as a winter hat, It's HANDS DOWN a great fit and Feel!!

Pull the trigger on this hat

Wife recently purchased this cap for me for my birthday. Tried it on but haven't worn it outside yet as it has been too warm. It fits my XXL head OK though a tiny bit snug but then I am over due for a haircut which can make a difference in how well hats and caps fit. It looks to be very well constructed of good quality leather. If this cap was also offered in a couple of shades of grey I believe they would be strong sellers as well. One thing I'm not sure of yet is if it might be too warm and result in holding perspiration inside since the little ventilation ports are completely covered by the ear flaps when they are not extended and tucked inside the cap.

I never read 5 star reviews. I love this cap but- 2 things. one thing is the size. Reviews said "order big" because they come a bit small. I have a big head but I did not find the cap to be too small. (they say to stretch it.) Second is the photo- I have ordered two of these and neither match the smooth look of the photo. Did I mention that I love this cap? It is dead animal (leather) and there will always be imperfections. The Choice is yours, some caps come out better than others even when made at the same place and at the same time. The stitching is strong, the craftsmanship is high quality. Word of advice - sometimes when you pay more, ya don't get more.
