This is not advertised as the Godzilla of all bike locks. It is a small and slight weight lock. I have a heavier duty lock I use if I'm going to leave my bike for a long period of time out of site. I intend to use this bike lock on long endurance rides where I'll be able to see the bike or only leave it unseen for short time periods. I have a modestly expensive bike Specialized Roubaix that I don't like to leave out of sight for long periods anyway. If somebody has a good set of bolt cutters or even a heavy wire cutting tool they are going to be able to cut this cable. But to deter the hit and run artist outside a gas station while you are in refilling water bottles and grabbing some food this look should do the trick. It should slow down the grab and go guy long enough you can come out and kick is rear. I'll post some pictures later of this lock vs my more substantial lock.

Of course it isn't for leaving your expensive bike outside for the night, but it does seem good enough as a deterrent, for locking down your stuff while you pick up an ice cream or a bottle of water in the roadside shop so nobody hops on your bike or runs away with your helmet. It's very low weight, so you can carry it anywhere, and while it won't stop prepared thiefs coming with tools, neither was intended to do that, it works a lot better than a post-it note on your things, saying "please don't take it away".
