Sleek look for the counter top

I like that it has a filter to let the pre-compost food dry out and a handle to carry it to the compost bin. It holds about 4-5 days' worth of veggie trimmings for a vegan family of 2. BUT. . . we have recently had a major ant invasion and the ants access the bin via the vent holes in the lid. I added an ant stake to the filter area and it reduced the traffic a bit....need to improvise more.

As I get older, my concern about my carbon footprint increases so have recently started composting. I was putting my fruit/veggie scraps in an empty plastic jar, which wasn't too pleasant to look at, plus it had to be emptied on a regular basis into my large compost bin in my garden. I purchased this and it is awesome - it looks nice on the counter (I have it by my kitchen sink) and there are no unpleasant odors coming from it. I like that the filter is hand washable, and it also comes with an extra filter. It's a good weight, holds quite a bit and the handle on it makes it convenient to carry. I know it's silly to be excited about composting, but I am and this item just adds to my excitement!

Yes, I know I should have been composting for years, but it was just so much easier to use the garbage disposal. But my niece talked me into doing some composting, so I bought a composter and this bin. It looks good on the counter, no big "COMPOST" written on the side. It is easy to empty and rinse out. I haven't noticed any odor coming from the bin, even when I haven't emptied it for a couple days. I haven't had to change the filter yet, so I don't know how that goes. Hopefully not as bad as everyone says.

A stylish stainless steel compost container that is high capacity and looks fine in the kitchen counter. The filter that fits inside the lid seems to work well I'm keeping odors down. I do empty mine every 5-7 days, so it never gets totally full. The lids fits tightly, which also helps with any odor from not so fresh fruits or veggies!
I DO NOT put any meat scraps in the bin, but if I were to do so, I would not let it sit on the counter, but would empty it ASAP! This is what causes maggots and flies to appear.
I highly recommend this compost container due to it being stainless steel, which can be subjected to scalding hot water and soap, and the dishwasher. Just remember to wash the filter in the lid and replace it in the lid when dry!

I am happy to have a closed container for my food waste, but I find it very hard to remove the lid; it acts as if it is glued on. I now leave the lid sitting on the container, but don't push it down to the closed position.
