Excellent product with tight tolerances so close to OEM, that parts are interchangeable.

Manufactured precisely enough that I was able to slide my old metal key, and back panel onto this new shell. Very pleased. Buttons are a little stiffer than the rubber membrane ones from my OEM, but they work fine. The OEM buttons in their rubber membrane cracked and tore anyway. Use a large screwdriver in the square side holes and twist the old key apart (it will pop). Then using a very small screwdriver, blade or similar instrument to gently coax the circuit board out of the old shell. I twisted and bent the old case a bit to encourage it to release the board. The RFID chip is a small piece in the very tip of the other half of the shell. Very easy to remove and put into the new shell. 5 minute job for me with jewelers screwdrivers!
Note: Screws from OEM do not fit into this one, so they provide 5 screws for you (4 needed, 1 spare).

Great Fit!

I was surprised at how well this fit. I was able to use the old back (with the logo) and the old key, so I didn't have to get the blank cut. That said, getting the guts out of the old fob is not for the faint of heart or farsighted of vision. I was sorry to have to crack the old fob open before I knew the new one work. Have a look at the YouTube videos before you order this so that you know what to expect. Search for "Gen2 Prius Smart Key Repair" and watch the one by calvo9. Note that he seems to have damaged his circuit board during the extraction, so be especially careful. Getting the old one apart is the hard part; the new one goes together easily.
Nice Kit

I was surprised for the price, but this replacement kit worked great! It's an easy and cheap way to fix your remote. Follow instructions carefully. I almost missed transferring the RFiD chip to the new unit. It is small and black thing that almost looks like a piece of plastic. My only complaint is that the emergency (red) button does not really work well. But the lock and unlock functions work great. Plus my old mechanical key fit into the new key fob.
It was a very cheap and easy solution to fixing my Prius key

I can't believe I didn't find this sooner. It was a very cheap and easy solution to fixing my Prius key. The dealership wanted $289 to give me a new one, when nothing was wrong with the internal chip. I highly recommend this if you have physical or cosmetic damage to your fob, but it is still working.
Good Fit; Lighter grade plastics

I bought two and both arrived together--- ontime. Product was as advertised. They are shells with no innards. Replacement took old electronics & chip without incident and any less or more size tolerances. One of my replacements is an SKS special FOB; I use a rubber cover on it so the new plastic shell is well-protected anyhow. Plastic does feel a bit inferior in plastic construction than the OEM, but only time will tell how well they hold up.
