Excellent fun teaching tool.

My daughter is a rock hound who is quickly getting to know more about rocks than I do, even though I rather like rocks, too-- so we bought this for her 6th birthday.
It's great.
I especially like how there are multiple variations on some of the more common rocks-- amethyst, for example, has clusters, shards and crystals, I think it was; three versions, anyways-- *and* there are a couple of types of rocks that look alike but have different properties so you can figure it out. (Hematite vs magnetic hematite, tiger's eye vs Botswanan agate)
I especially appreciated the meteorites being in a separate baggy so I wasn't stuck trying to figure out if the lava rock (not quite pummy-stone, but a similar process-- and my daughter was actually interested to hear about it!) was the meteor or not.

Awesome Mineral Set!

This is a beautiful, varied, and very interesting collection of all sorts of minerals, complete with a guide for identifying them. What a treasure trove! My six-year-old is obsessed with geology, and this kit kept him and his sister occupied for days, examining all of the different minerals. Highly recommended.
Absolutely awesome purchase

My inquisitive 10 year old 4th grade daughter is studying rocks & minerals at school this month. She asked me if I would get her some rocks/minerals, therefore the reason behind my purchase. The collection was delivered yesterday (expeditiously ). She is absolutely thrilled! We laminated the chart that came with the kit so she could safely share it with her classmates.
As a parent, I was impressed with the high quality of the kit. The packaging was perfect. And the joy it gave my daughter seals the deal! Thank you Dancing Bear! I am definitely a future returning patron.
Have a lovely, blessed day.

My kids and I have really enjoyed this rock collection

My kids and I have really enjoyed this rock collection. Unlike some of the other more expensive collections on Amazon, this one was something I was not worried about letting my kids get their hands on. There are a wide variety of cool rocks with various colors, shapes and textures. The chart was especially helpful for my daughter's rock collection assignment where she had to identify the different categories of rocks and minerals. The price was affordable and the seller sent our product quickly so we received it before the anticipated arrival date. I will definitely buy from Dancing Bear again. Thanks for the great service and product!
Wonderful beginner kit for kids & adults interested in rock collecting, and worth the price!

I purchased Rock & Mineral Collection Activity Kit (Over 150 Pcs) with Educational Identification Sheet plus a genuine Meteorite fragment, Fossilized Shark Teeth and Arrowheads, Dancing Bear Brand as Christmas gift for my ten-year-old son. We love going on nature walks and he is always bringing home rocks, feathers, etc to put in his treasure box. This kit was a major hit! It comes in a plain white box, with a large zip lock bag of assorted rocks, a cheap magnifying glass, and a fact sheet to help you identify the rocks. The meteorite is tiny so I appreciated the fact that it was bagged separately in a tiny zip lock bag. The collection of rocks had good variety. These aren't large rocks. Most are somewhere between pea-sized to driveway gravel size. We dumped the bag of rocks on an area rug and had such fun looking through and sorting, identifying them using the chart. There were so many different kinds! He loved the real shark teeth (the kit included several). The kit included a small magnifying glass which is not great quality (cheap plastic) but okay, which we used sometimes but the rocks are large enough to not require it. Obviously this kit wouldn't be good for young kids because of the choking hazard. However, I'd highly recommend this product for any adult or child who is interested in geology and rock collecting. It's very basic, wonderful for beginning rock collecting, and worth the price!
