Tough enough

Very good splitter and great value! This thing is a brute, even 24 inch cottonwood is no match for this splitter. No regrets for buying at all.
Very happy to own this machine

After renting a 20 ton splitter from Home Depot I decided to buy one. We heat with wood and as I enter my 60s, spitting wood by hand is becoming more than a chore. I did a fair amount of research and decided to take the plunge with this 25 ton Champion. First I was amazed I was able to get it with free shipping. It arrived in good condition and I it took me about 2 hours to get it all assembled. I had purchased 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid before it arrived. So far I have been extremely satisfied with this machine. It has five more tons than the machine we rented and the wedge is well designed. It is heavy and sharp. I like how the wedge is long and narrow before it widens out. Right after it was assembled it was put to the task of spitting some huge pieces of oak, which it did with aplomb. It has the feature of being able to tip up so the wedge can be used vertically. Then one just has to push or roll a large piece into the machine. Even knotty and twisted pieces give way to this unit. The engine starts with one or two pulls and I have all of my wood split for this year and part of next. I am very happy I got it. Some have complained that the log catchers on the sides are a bit flimsy. This is true but they are okay. I figure if they get really bent or broken it would be easy to make new racks out of pipe. I can weld so that would be something I can do. However I think the racks that come with it will last for many years.
A great splitter

Easy to set up, one pull start, strong as hell. This machine is a monster.

My 1st cuts on some pine and then some Tamarack went great. The Tamarack I split was the same I hand split a month ago, and was the last straw that finally got me to order this. After 2+ years of seasoning, and I can't with reasonable efforts split it, then time for the machine.

Get extra hydraulic fluids. This is a thirsty machine. I bought 2 five gallon buckets (probably not a full 5 gallons) and went into the 2nd bucket to get to the hydraulic sight window full indication.
So far, so good

Was a little surprised the return hoses had clamps instead of JIC fittings, that was my only complaint. After about 10 hours the return line on the tank came off and we all took a bath. Only advice is after a couple hours use, check the clamps and you should be golden. We've split a little over 6 cords of eucalyptus so far with no problem. So far so good
Cuts wood like a hot knife through butter!

Cuts wood like a hot knife through butter. Assembly took me about 1.5 hours using basic tools. The vertical cutting position is a back-saver! More than enough power to cut anything I could throw at it. Very pleased with this purchase.
