I got this after making my own with the vertical nipples that leaked and spilled 2 gallons of water in 12 hours. This was the answer to my chicken's watering needs. I fill this up maybe twice a week for 35 chickens and they took to it immediately.

Works very well. After several months use, I have one spout leaking. Guess I will have to order replacements. Chickens took to it almost immediately. I also bought the smaller one for the bantams. They took longer to get the hang of it, but are doing great with it now. Provides clean water and only have to fill them about once a week.

It does drip a bit but only a couple of oz.s before stopping. I eventually placed a rubber bowl below it to measure and to make sure it stopped. It also came with an extra side nipple i assume as a back-up of which was appreciated but not as yet used as I want to see how bad it gets first. I didn't give five stars only because I think that they should have tested for leaks over a period of time before shipping.

No problem getting my hens to use this. I just filled it up, hung it from the roof of the coop by its handle, tapped on the red plugs to show them the water and that was it. My 15 hens drain it in about 5 days, easy to fill, just unscrew the little cap and fill it with a hose while it is still hanging from roof. They dont sit on lid because I am hanging it by the handle so the handle keeps them off the lid, stays clean! Not been to cold here so not had any freeze problem, but will go get an aquarium heater and install it through the lid and into the bucket. Will work great because I dont have to constantly remove big lid to fill the bucket. I am ordering me another right now so they will have enough water to last more than a week if needed.

This thing will make your life easier. If you like having chickens but hate the maintenance, and would like a cleaner coop, get this thing ASAP. Needs to be filled less often, spills less, Easy for the chickens to learn to use it.
