The Two body cords are very sturdy.
it's just sad. I bought some 14ga wire and heat shrink ...

The body cords are basic. I took the advice of my coach and took them apart to add additional support (heat shrink wrap) to the portions at each connector where the clear rubber wrap was. I kept the clear too, and heated them until they shrunk down well. Two layers helps quite a bit.
The mask cord is an entirely different issue. To be honest, it was complete junk. The only thing worth mentioning were the clips. The wire itself is 4 or 5 stranded copper wire with wire insulation around it, and then ANOTHER layer of wire insulation around that to make it appear thicker, and perhaps offer some protection. Well, it's just sad. I bought some 14ga wire and heat shrink wrap, broke out the old soldering iron, and went to work salvaging the clips and making a superior mask cord. My coach was very pleased with it.
The body cords are decent, but without reinforcement, they will wear out quickly. If you can do the work, do it. The mask cord... well, be happy it's "free".
