This is an attractive collar that does not catch and pull your dog's fur, which come chain collars do. It slides easily over the dog's head. The only thing I dislike about it is that is is quite heavy for its size. On a dog with a sensitive neck, that could cause discomfort. MARTINGALE COLLARS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT ON THE DOG ALL THE TIME BECAUSE THE LOOP CAN EASILY CATCH ON SOMETHING AND CHOKE THE ANIMAL. This style collar is solely for walking and handling on leash! But even on a walk, a sensitive dog could be bothered by the weight of it. My cattle dog does fine wearing it for handling. I made the mistake of leaving it on him for a prolonged period while he was closely confined indoors and recovering from surgery (he had to be leashed up constantly for pee walks). I noticed him scratching at the collar, and saw that the skin beneath it, at the top of his neck, looked a little irritated. I still use the chain collar for short periods of handling, but I use a leather buckle collar for longer walks.

I love the look of this collar!! It is a little to big for my girl, but one size smaller was just too small. I don't use it to walk her on (so being a little big is okay), just for grabbing her when the doorbell rings, etc..

I purchased this chain collar to replace one that broke, at first I tried to different brand but the sizing was off and my dog easily got out of the collar because it was a little too big, but I did follow the sizing chart. I bought this one and the sizing was perfect, now I don't have to worry about my dog getting loose.
